...Maybe. I don't want the event to end, but for now I'm glad to have a break. Read more: http://www.organicmetal.co.uk/MVGC/announcement.htm While I'm here and now the event's stopped, I wanna mention how brain dead stupid some people are! (I'm sounding like Neo! /jk )
Go to the mvgc home page, read the rules, submit your fan art, read the faq before asking a question. It's a simple event, a simple concept and a simple web site, but there's always 1.. or in the case of the last 3 years of MVGC, 25! There's been at least 10-15 people submit artwork that wasn't illustrating the chosen monthly character. Why do some people go to the effort of emailing their art and info, but can't seem to be bothered to actually find out what the web site is about to begin with! The funniest ones are characters that people just make up, then send along with some accompanying text saying something along the lines of "this is a character I drawed for a computer game"... And take HalfAx's submission- visits the mvgc home page then posts a topic on the forum asking how to send art. Then emails me asking the same thing a few hours later. I reply with: --- Hi there, If you'd like to submit Soul Calibur art to the MVGC, you can either email it to me or email me a link to where I can download the picture. Please read the rules at: http://www.organicmetal.co.uk/MVGC/MVGCindex.htm - Ben --- So he sends a badly drawn copy of an official illustration of Link from Zelda which as stated in the rules won't be put in the gallery since everyone hates a copy cat trying to be cute.. I thought I said please read the rules and even supplied a link to the rules page? Just a week previous to this, someone sends in some official Namco artwork of Knightmare and writes: i was bored i found this site n i thought i might as well make an entry im probably not as good as some others out there but i try lol this is my first entry so go easy on me You "try"? all you try to do is get away with ripping off other's efforts to reap some sort of praise.. Most artists were cool, but there's unfortunately always a minority of annoying people that seem to either enjoy trying to p!$$ me off or who are so stupid they don't even need to try but manage to frustrate!

Heh- I re-read my initial post on this thread from 2 years ago.. I remember now- The MVGC used to attract stupid people! For those interested, my current thoughts are : The MVGC was cool and helped give people an extra incentive to draw and display their fanart. Thinking back, It wasn't all bad, but I'm glad I put the even on hold. After 2 years of me not running it, I'm thinking I might as well scrap it completely... I stopped running and hosting MVGC for several reasons: - I felt there wasn't much point if only a one or two people would enter each month- I don't wanna invest time in stuff like this if there's no massive demand for it. - I used to spend hours scouting around the web for participants. Some months it was more like a job to put together a gallery of existing work than simply Administrating an event. -It was cool to run it at first as it was generating hits to Organic Metal and associated me with a cool arty event idea, but it ended up associating me with a flop so that didn't help. - A Quarter of participants were annoying children. The plan to deal with these issues was to create an interactive site whereby artists would be given an account login and ability to upload their own works for display each month leaving little work for an admin. I'd be happy designing the site layout but I'm no programming wizard, so to pull this off, I'd have to spend a few hundred quid on a developer and hosting fees. If anyone with good PHP skills could do this for free, let me know!! A plan to popularize the MVGC was to get in sponsors giving away freebies in return to banner linking- I didn't properly investigate this route, but woulda given it a go.. I had created a new structure for each month's task too. Instead of just "Draw character X", the task might be "Draw a gaming guy fighting a gaming Gal" This woulda been pretty fun. Maybe we could just do stuff like this on the forum? So yeh, I'll be getting rid of the MVGC link from the OM Home Page and Nav-Bar and quit having anything to do with it. In the mean time, like when Tri was running MVGC for a bit, if anyone else wants to make a site for it and run it like I used to, go for it! Just dont say I didn't warn you if you experience the same problems I did
