What are 'Emoticons'?..
Emoticons are keyboard characters used to convey an emotion, such as a smile :) or a frown :( These translate an icon/ small face image in your message.
Each emoticon can be added to your message by typing the correct code where you want the emoticon to appear in your message. For example:

When I grow up, I wanna be a cool dude!
