Fashion Girl

Took days to colour - At the time it was probably the longest period I'd spent colouring. I wanted to go for a realistic CG style similar to Shinkiro- the Capcom artist that did all the characters designs for the King of Fighters games. He draws semi-realistic anime artwork (more realistic than this line art) and renders it to look more 'real' than your typical manga style CG by using photo reference material and such. I used to think some of his stuff was photographed until I saw a pic of him working from reference in Gamest Mook (a monthly Japanese game guide or artwork magazine-book).

The rendering looks good, but I dunno about combining that realistic style with this particular line art. I still like my comics and anime, so if I do more realistic looking anime style art in the future I'll need to make sure I'm happy with the line work before rushing into the colouring.

First of all I would like to say that I love the way you've put so much detail on her clothes ... you can tell that you've really worked on that. I really admire your artworks and I've had the chance to look at 2 of your drawing books... Step By Step Manga and How To Draw Manga. And the thing that I most admire is that you are talented instead of most people who have gone to drawing schools. I also enjoy Anime & Manga and that's why when I first saw one of your books on how to draw manga I was the first one from my school to buy one. I would also like to say keep the fantastic work and please continue with your Drawing Books as loads of people (expecially in the Uk) should get to know more about how great Japanese Anime and Manga are.
