I saw it last Friday night, and I gotta say...

WHAT THE HELL IS ALL THE FUSS ABOUT??

I got SOOOOOOO bored during that film, I fell asleep in it no less than three times. Padme and Anakin's "romance" was poorly scripted (actually, lets be honest, it was ALL poorly scripted), boring, draw out, and their characters lack any depth WHATSOEVER. When they talked together in that Italian looking villa (you remember it - that actual REAL SET!!! wow!) they were talking SOOOO SLLLLOOOOWWWWLLLYYY.... and with massive pauses in between everything they said. As if to give their uninspired words some sort of otherwise-lacking significance. None of the characters behaved like real people, and frankly the actors that play Padme and Anakin? They both suck ass at acting. Picked for their looks, not their talent, no doubt. How depressing.

Anyhow. I hated it. It bit. It sucked. It generally fornicated all over the cineman like some form of terrible monster. It made the Star Wars story (which I enjoyed, until Episode I came along - so I gave II a chance before dismissing it - well, I was wrong to do so) - it RUINED the story. Uhh, I've lost the ability to organise my thoughts. Ahh, well. At least I was comprehesible for a short while...

There were just so many people in the cinema - it was packed. And I found myself sighing and wishing it was over LONG LONG before it was (probably why I fell asleep)... I was DYING for it to just bloody well END ALREADY!!! So when I saw that screen that said "George Lucas" in big letters (and okay, so I wasn't paying TOO much attention at that point) I just leapt to my feet to leave as quickly as possible. I wasn't a bit surprised to see half the cinema do the EXACT SAME THING! Not like usual, where we sit still and come back to real life, take a moment in the darkness of the cinema as the credits roll and feel satisfied. None of that. Just a massive crush of people who wanted to leave.

Okay, I didn't hate ALL of it. I admit. The fight with Yoda was pure genius. But it was certainly NOT worth the £7 I paid. Not at all.

If you haven't seen it yet, don't bother. You'll be sorely disappointed.
I, for one, will be avoiding Episode III like the plague. Thank god Lucas dismissed his plans to make more sequels, eh? At least he can't ruin it any more.

Pixie

ps - sorry, just had to get that off my chest... nice to see you guys again, sorry I've been away... long story, involving net connections, and evil bosses believing they are entitled to public bollokings... hence my lack of job as of today! I quit! hahahahha!

I actually enjoyed the movie, apart from the let's-render-bugsy-nauseous cliché love scenes. The acting was better than I expected, too. The second half of the movie was cool, I just have a week spot for swords, capes, and magic (in this case, lightsabres, capes, and the Force) XD

Ok, I saw it on Sunday, and I have to agree with Bugsy. I went in there knowing what t expect having seen the 1st movie and I actually enjoyed this one a lot more. For what it was, I reckon they did a decent enough job, and though the acting was a little ropey in places, you have to admit the scenery, enviroments, character and costume designs were top-notch.

Best bit was to see all those Jedi's in one place. I mean, one or two's enough, but a small army of them was fab! I love epic battles ^_^

I never thought I see so many jedi's killed in one battle... o.o

And the way Jingo got beheaded X3 that was a terrible end to him Just wondering, since his clone Boba is going to take over the job... how on earth (or a galaxy far far away?) will he get Jingo's head out of that helm? Probably dig it out with a spoon >

I do't really think the actors are to blame for their acting on this one, more like its the directors fault (mr.lucas) for not using their full potential :/ e.g Obi kept saying "my young pandawan" which gets annoying and sounds stupid after a while Xp

imo that was a great film despite the fact i was watching something that was 90% computer animation

yup seen it too and hadn't problem with a full cinema (hehe first day trick works allways).

can't realy judge the acting (sometimes synchro can smooth out bad acting) and overall I was too busy when padme was onscreen to observe there performance .

but yeah it had it slow boring parts especial at the beginning.

I see it like this episode 2 is the connection between ep.1 and ep.3 so at the beginning it was shit like episode 1 and in the end it goes toward the quality we can hopefully expect in ep.3.

The cg suited the movie quite well there are movies that have less cg and it annoyes alot more (romeo must die as an example).

but personaly I will definitiv see episode 3 to see how all the little pieces fall in place and I want to know if I'm right about the last scenes.

Oh man stupid me never reply'd (I have ).
Sorry bugsy (better late than never, right).

Well the voiceover are a mixed thing, but you hardly notice them 'couse 90% of the stuff that is showed in cinema and tv has them.

For movies that promise to be a success the voice over is normaly top notch (very close dialogs voice suits the character).
Sometimes and I asume this a bit for episode 1/2 and maybe 3 the voice acting is even better than the original version (often the voice is an actor too but with a classic theater and film education).
And normaly hollywood actor have one voice actor for all there films (so you can recognize them).

With movies that are not planed for the mainstream thou it is a different story [and because of this I prever my asian movies with subs (Gladly most companys who release animes are run by fans who think the same).].

Episode II was enough to impress the #$^% out of me! I agree the romance was lame, I drifted away during them so I hardly even can recall it, and I just watched the movie!

The only other thing I hate is going too far with computer animation, creating unrealistic situations. The only act im reffereing to is near the start of the movie when Anikin and Obewan chase down that changling chick. Catching somone out of mid air falling thousands of feet is kinda lame, or when Anikan drops out of know-where and lands on the villans speeder.

Jango Fett was my favorate character, It's neat how they found a nice way to include Boba Fett into the movie. Not like the first movie when they introduced R2-2D in such a manor that absolutely any idiot could reffer him back to the original movies. Boba gives a more suttle approach, as to not shove it in the viewers face that he is infact "boba Fett" from star wars 3,4, and 5.

Too Bad Jango dies so lame, He just stands there shooting at Mace until he runs out of room and just gets his head sliced off. There could have been abit more action to that. Im hoping Boba gets his revenge in a more heroic manor, ala not just shooting Mace in the back of the head when he's not looking or whatever. Apparently Mace is to die in the next movie, but says he wants to go out in a "big way". If Boba did get him it would at least give a villian abit of weight to work with, rather than just being a weak cowardly antagonist that seems to plague movies nowadays.

Welp more bitching that compliments, but hey this is a Rant Thread isn't it . I think Episode 3 is going to rock! But seems the prequals more or less put an end to the sage, as there is really no room for a new movie after the next one.

Actually, I think that the speeder scene in the beginning is a bit of an example of Lucas' weird sence of humour. It made me laugh anyway XP I've seen him pull other stuff like that in previous movies :3
