hm, hard to say what the problem is from a distance, but I would say try the driver update routine .So pay a vist to the makers of your hardware (especial videocard, soundcard) and update your drivers. Also visit the NWN page and see if they have a patch out. See if thats help. For the scanner, Sounds like it is locked(thought my scanner was the only one with such an obscure feat.)
You have to go in the controlpanel, system and find the scanner somewhere. There should be a option tab for it, where you can unlock it(sorry for the sloppy descripion but I use a localized Win version and forgot how the menus are called in english). If the scanner cant be unlocked by software, it might be that it has a button for it, on the back of the scanner (thats how mine worked atleast). oh and please dont double post tnx.
