do you guys listen to music when you are doing your art? just curious, a little Saliva-or-P.O.D. usually gets me really fired to draw.

Elvis, Bon Jovi, Meatloaf, Megadeath, Abba, Beegees, it's all GOOD.Elvis tends to make me draw best.

Depends on what I'm drawing, or in what mood I am. So it changes from metal to Deep Purple to Smashing Pumpkins to jazz to orchestral to soundtracks to ...

Some times I do listen to music when I draw, but watching anime when I draw, gives me inspiration.

A lot of people say they listen to music to inspire them and which music genre they listen to depends on what the theme of the drawing is! I dont think I've got enough different music to do this unless I listen to the same handful of songs for a few hours straight, in which case that would get annoying rather than inspiring!

Sometimes I'll listen to music while I draw, sometimes I'll just sit in silence- I dont mind either and I dunno if it makes much difference?

music? I like Bentley Rhythm Ace, Mr Scruff, Hexstatic, Orbital, that sorta thing.

But I usually don't listen to music when I'm drawin, I watch teevee... well, I don't WATCH it, exactly, I just kinda have it on in the background as noise. Music distracts me too much - teevee's such a no-brainer, I don't GET distracted! XD

ps- Rahzel rocks!!! And I've gotten well into DJ Yoda at the moment... heard any of his stuff? Give it a try, "DJ Yoda's Guide to Cut and Paste Vol. 1" is the funniest, cleverest and best-mixed scratch album I've heard in AGES...

Yeh, i'm also of the opinion that music can inspire u to draw brilliantly. For me, the top ones are either Aerosmith or Rammstein. Of course, a whole load of others (too many to name!) help as well.

Sup? I have to admit i don't do a whole lot of art. The only stuff i do is when i'm really in a cathersis. But the only way for that to happen is to listen to some good music. Usually i listen to stuff like flaw, godsmack, alice in chains, tool. Just about anything that i can see as abstact. I don't see how people can't listen to music while doing art, but everyone has their own taste.

i dont always listen to music when im drawing/painting - but it really does help out when i lose inspiration

and when i am listening to music i switch to my casual anarchy mode >=]

I've found that I'll listen to just about anything but I find some music more inspirational than others. I mainly do fantasy type stuff so I've been getting into Manowar and lots of metal for that stuff. I also find that the Pharcyde helps me to focus or any other group that's smooth and not tough on the nerves. Depends on the mood I'm in, I suppose, as with anything else. My favorites are: Eminem, Kid Rock, David Lee Roth, Ice Cube, Marilyn Manson, Dr. Dre, Guns n' Roses...heck, I listen to it all, even country. It takes all kinds.

Am I the only one on here that likes Sinnatra ?, Tom Jones and Elvis ?.....I love ALL music except Yo Yo Yo rap rubbish and reggae. Anyone else think modern music has completely lost the plot ?.

I do have to admit to liking Eminem, or however you spell it.

Yeh, all the manufactured crap that comes from the music factory these days is soooooo contrived that modern music doesn't know what it's talking about (especially S Club 7 - too obvious what the 'S' stands for). Except trance music of course. Ian Van Dahl and Darude are quite good for my drawing IMHO. Though there is a temptation to consider it manufactured, it's still good for me because it gives me something ambient to listen to. Does anyone think of the sky when listening to Darude? I always do. Any other trance artists good for artwork?

Oh yeh, about Sinatra and co... music that old don't appeal to me that much. I prefer stuff from the 70s onwards, though Hendrix is admittedly quite cool. But a really good guitarist to listen to is Stanley Jordan. His is truly kikass guitar playing.

What about Whitney Houston, heh heh. Im listenin to that now, god im so camp lol

Love shack by the B52's always cheers me up for some reason, and that delight song cos its so cheesey, that one with bootsie, whatshisname on. Love in an elevator by Aerosmith is probably my fave song at the mo.

i guess i've been lurking with intent waiting for a topic like this

...basically anything thats either punk, ska or emo gets my "creative juices" flowing...e.g mad caddies, saves the day, nofx, millencolin, blink 182, lagwagon etc etc...i live for the music and wouldn't be the same without it *tear*

Neo, u love that tune as well?! DUDE! That is IMHO the most kikass Aerosmith tune ever! Especially Joe's guitar solo! Damn man!

Seeing as I'm learning to play guitar ATM, that is the first proper tune i will try and learn to play.
'Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues' by Mclusky is another tune i'm kinda into ATM.

I prefer that tune from the film Armageddon by Aerosmith to be honest, I 4get its name for the mo. That film where bruised willies (Bruce Willis) saves the world ( Who'd have guessed eh?), by digging a hole, in fact he's the best damn hole digger on Earth. He goes into space, lots of people die stupidly, the rat faced one goes barmy, one goes blind, and he blows himself up, sacrificing himself for humanity (barf!). I cant see the real guy doing that to be honest....

I take it you're thinking of 'Don't want to miss a thing', right? It was an alright tune, but my reckoning is that their older stuff was better. Of course, Queen were pretty cool as well. In fact, my fave tune of theirs is 'Innuendo'. And the one they did with David Bowie, 'Under Pressure', was a cool tune as well.

Its Armageddon. Deep impact was the boring one.

As for Queen, Killer Queen, The Show Must Go On, Hammer To Fall and Breakthrough are my faves.
