Question: do our avatars reflect ourselves in any way?

It would depend on the picture and the person surely. As for me, I chose a cat avatar cos I love cats Especially my crazy Cat Tyrus! (I'll post a pic sometime). But someone else might've gone out of their way to do a perfect (but tiny) self portrait, or chosen an image that really reflects a part of themself.

Sickitties my avatar, he reflects that laddish side that Ive always wanted but never had. Im quite reserved you see beleive it or not

You can see him up to mischief in most of my pics. This is the first time Ive printed his name on here.

I just found a cute one somewhere on the net... can't even remember where! I'd prefer to have my own artwork, but I'm too lazy for that...

heh heh, seeing as i started this thread, i may as well write about my one.
Angelo is a character out of a project i'm working on with southern. originally called akira (u think that's unoriginal, wait till u find out what Michelle was called b4!), I first tried to draw myself in an anime style. Inadvertently, it was more flattering than i'd intended it, so i just kept him and drew loads of other characters. Then Project Antichrist was conceived, so i used this guy, changed his hair colour from black to light grey, and his eye colour form brown to blue. So there you have it. Angelo was originally based on myself. Scary huh?

and the dogboy reflects my sensetive, romantic normal side. EEEE, it's gettin all psychological, he represents my ideal self. Whay's he a dog ?, I dunno, hes always bin a dog. Any psychological types wanna try explain it ?.

Maybe cos dogs are faithful, happy and loveable, things I aspire to be. While cats are selfish, greedy and out for number one.

Why animals ?. Maybe cos animals are used heavily in symbolism throughout history....
