Is reality fantasy? If so, fantasy must be reality. But fantasy is a reality we weave for ourselves, fabricated out of nothing but our purest imagination. Fabrication means the same as lying, and fantasy is always false. So reality must be false. But reality is the tangible world around us. Reality is truth. But reality is fantasy. Fantasy is fabrication, so reality must be a fabrication. Therefore, the world around us is a meaningless lie. Does that mean we truly exist, or are we a figment of someone else's imagination?

Okaaay, Well I get this jist of that! I often ask myself the same thing

It's one of those- what's the meaning of life things. I think the answer is "to live!" The hard question is- what's the point in living? I think perhaps it's up to each individual to create their own reasons for living.

^_~ creation comes from imagination! if you believe in God, we are his imagination

there is a fine line between fantasy and reality - im not sure how to explain it, but heres my dumb take on it

reality - an existance that you live in and experience

fantasy - a non-existance that you can experience but can never live in - making it existant only in your memories

* * *

thus, dreams are real. . people have dreams! its a reality! if you believe that you fly off to another world while in your dreams or dreams are somewhat spiritual, then dreams are very real!

if not, then dreams are like fantasy. though the odd stuff in your dreams may never be apart of your 'reality', you can experience it and they can affect you

ex. i am not really a dragon, like my dreams say i am

ex. spiritually speaking, i am a dragon XD

oh. .and i also believe that fantasy becomes reality when two or more people experience something together . . such as you enter someones dream and dream with them. no longer is that dream a place of imagination, but a home for two minds - where those minds 'live' even if it is for a few seconds

when those two minds direcly interact, they create a plane of existance *blows up* XB

Since reality is highly subjective depending on how you interprit it, and only what you see can be defined as your reality from your perspective, who's to say anything is real. Still, you gotta laugh havent you .

Neo, is deprived all right. All those bouncy, sultry anthros in my head and no decent dreams about em.

When I was a kid, I used to have Really bad shit, nightmares, and I mean really nasty, not just chased by a monster, or some other childish crap. Serves me right though, I was watchin 18's and banned horrors at 5. I think my brain eventually turned my dreaming ability off as a defence mechanism.

things I thought recently.... firstly, you can't prove anything outside your own mind (your own experiences) exists at all. you might as well be a brain in a jar.

secondly, I rekkon the only advantage humans have over any other carbon-based life-form on earth, since we don't have thick hides, sharp teeth, we're not fast or strong or good hunters, the only thing we've really got going for us is our intelligence. we're good at working stuff out, making tools, being ingenious and resourceful. Therefore, if there's one thing worth doing while were alive, it's learning as much shit as possible. maybe making a difference, maybe not. that's why I read so much - I figure there really isn't a great deal else worth doing.

blah. philosophy. yay.

You sound more n more like my ideal woman every day you smart little sexpot. Meow. Come to NEO.

Do we exist ?, we define our existence through what we effect, or create. If you just sit watchin tv everyday and dont talk about something other than irrelevant sport crap/pop rubbish, you may as well not exist. We exist through others, and their recognition of our existence. They think about me therefore I am, or something like that.

We cannot truly exist without others to reinforce our 'self'. Without others our psychology breaks down and we lose touch of reality ( look at good old freakshow, Michael Jackson. thats what losing touch with reality can do to you, not that he fits into this topic ).

In summary.....Come to me Pixie. Im wierd but loveable.

hm I know people who watch alot tv and only talk about meaningless sport/pop crap and unfortunaly they are extremly real.

btw. a little fact every human being dreams atleast 5 times during a normal sleep.

We only remember a dream when we get interupted in it.

Experiments showed if you dont dream your concentration and sanity will suffer a great deal.

To say it in a geek'ish way dreaming is like running a defrag on your brain.

Wow. I post up thoughts produced by 'End of Evangelion' and I get this response... Thanx u guys, it shows i'm dealing with an intellectually minded lot. I posted this on another board and they gave crap responses, like 'uh... the second one' and 'ermm... tosser'. I know where to come for intellectual discussions. Thank you for giving me intellectual nutrition.

They think about me therefore I am - neo

Thinking about that, would you still exist if you weren't recognised - you still have your own perception of the world, but would that count? Goes back to that old saying, "If a tree falls and no-one's there to hear it, does it make a noise?".

>=D akira! i first saw akira when i was 7 years old, as i grew to love the movie more *is a complete fanatic* i sorta gained the powers tetsuo has in the movie

im over half my dreams now im a female tetsuo O.o i can fly at will in any dream - jump really high *rarely* and somtimes i can move objects, blow up things and stuff. . its hard though - i try to use my powers and they tend to back fire or not work

i also have a dream diary *3 now* and when you actually take the time out to remember and think about your dreams, youre dreams get more interesting >=D *btw, lack of dreams is bad sign ;_;*

*looks at neo's posts*
now thats eva talk! o.o yourself being defined, and yourself existing becuase of others. . . i said that wrong.

isnt sci-fi fun?

muh. dreaming is good. I'm on antibiotics so I dream loads. Last major dream I remember, I was at art college, only everyone there had magic abilities (no, it was nothing like Harry Potter!) - and they rekkoned I was magic too. The first magic thing they tried to get me to do was change the colour of my hair (since hair is an extension of your self, albeit a dead one - and magic flows through every pore of your being - mm, perhaps I dissect dreams too much). Anyway, half my hair turned red, and half stayed brown. I was crap.

later in my dream I figured out what to do, and turned my hair green and dreaded it simultaneously - using only innate magical powers...! how cool is that?!?!

the annoying bit was, in the same dream I took loads of cool photos with my camera. And then I woke up, and none of the photos EVEN EXIST! bah! so unfair! >:(

Neo - I'll have to check out your photo first, you crazy flirtateous blokey... ;) but I'm flattered... :p

I dont dream. You think existential thought is bad for you ?, youre probably right, it only makes you depressed.

The guy that wrote evangelion was on the cusp of suicide when he started it. I think it's very present in some of the dialouge. He said anime saved his life in the little backnote I read. Maybe Shinji is an extension of himself, rather than a simple chara. Or maybe they all symbolise aspects of his depression. Rei symbolises pain, and the way people use you, Asuka symbolises his failure, Shinji, his deep rooted 'daddy doesnt love me' complex, or his weakness.

Who knows ?, the brain is a mystery even to the person it's sittin in.

As for a pic, Ill have to get that digi-cam from my mate again.

Whoever's seen 'End of Evangelion' - did it leave u feeling a tad depressed afterwards? It did that to me a little bit, because... well, it just made me think about how complex life is, and saddened me slightly in the fact that I'll never truly understand it. But if there is one thing i learnt, it's to enjoy what you have right now - u never know when the world will end.
