Ok so here i am last night in bed thinking about getting a new computer and then I fell asleep.(5hours pass) wake up wash up dress eat of to school as i am at school i notice the black IBM computers they have a realize these are really shitty! so i wanna know what kinda Computer do u own/use and would u recomend it(explian y if u want of maby not if u want then sometimes u could but end up not.....)

First of all, I'm a big AMD fan. Whenever I can, I'd pick it over an Intel XP
However, my main computer is a 17" laptop, and they aren't as versatile. I use it for graphics work, coding, ... I bought it for school/work, not games XP
Anyway:
- processor: Intel Pentium 4 2.60 GHz (didn't have much choice in 17" screen laptops)
- 448 MB Ram
- Hard Disk: 80GB
- Video Card: SIS M650 (64 MB Ram)
(it's not great for games but it works)

The rest is all pretty basic stuff that you get with any laptop.

My desktop is no longer used for other things than audio and music. It's older, but finetuned (windows xp and bios tuned for best performance instead of visuals). I'd like a PowerMac for this, but it's not like I shit money XP
- Processor: AMD Athlon 1700
- 512 MB RAM
- Hard Disk: 30GB
- Video: Geforce 4 MX (64 MB Ram)
- Audio: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 (it is great for games/6.1 surround films and when you're beginning with audio, but it's all minijack plugs - my version anyway - and the latency can give probs if your comp isn't fast enough), with Edirol MA-10A speakers.

Hopefully, I'm gonna get an Edirol DA-2496 soon, to handle my audio input/output.

Lol, this prolly can't help you in any way, since it's very adjusted towards a certain use, but I can give you some pointers.
Get an AMD Athlon, it's cheaper and just as fast as Intel (if not faster). Everyone who ever disagreed with me had to adjust their opinion after actually trying one for a while XP
Motherboard: get an Asus, and not the cheapest one in the store.
RAM: 512 MB should do it, just don't go below that.
Hard disk depends on how you're gonna use it: I'd say at least 60 GB nowadays. Get a good brand.
Audio also depends on the use: but I suggest Creative (they have decent cards in all price ranges) for general uses (including films & games).

mmm well i am thinking about getting a G4Ibook 12inch screen from Apple/machintosh :P (and my main use would be Graphic/Animation(i am in to flashmx) so i am trying to get something that can hold enoughe on it's own, has to be fast(Sound ain't a big thing i already got a MP3 player what else do i need :P.

The computer i use right now is a Careteck custome PC 60HD 128.0MB Ram
nothing really great it's about 3,4 years old(thats why i need a upgrade it's not fun sharing a computer with your parents (THEY DOWNLOAD TO MANY SONGS))

I just upgraded yesterday. I haven't had much chance to test it, but it's working well from what I can tell. I use my PC mainly for Design stuff- e.g. PhotoShop, Flash, Dreamweaver, as well as internet and email. I'm using:

- OS: XP Home
- Mother Board: Gigabyte k7 Triton (KT600 chips)
- Processor: AMD XP 2600+
- RAM: 1.5GB PC2100 DDR
- Hard Disk: 80GB Maxtor and 60GB IBM (both 7200 RPM /w 2MB Catch)
- Video Card: G-Force FX5200 (124 MB Ram)
- CDROM: 52x24x52 Plextor CDRW, Hitachi DVD
- 19" Monitor

Other than what Bugsy mentioned, I'd always advise building your own PC if you feel competent enough. It's a lot cheaper than buying a pre-made shop model, and you’ll know exactly what you're putting in it, so you don’t end up with low grade components.

Well i gusses that would be cool but i like to have the idea of customizing my desktop/laptop with a company so i get free software end warnenty if something breaks. Also I know quite bit about computers but not enoughe to make my own by buying parts and sodering chips and such just not that talented :P

lol when assembling your own comp you won't be doing any soldering. It's mainly just connecting cables and plugging cards into slots on your mainboard. The hardware manuals give an overview of how to do it, most of the time.

The hardest thing is probably setting up the slave/master jumper switches on your hard disk, but in all fairness, even that's not too hard XP

Well if i were to make my own how much would it cost for your basic internet,gaming computer. (I think i might make one for gaming and end internet stuff like chat and web browsing) and then of course i'll have my Ibook for work[my parents are buying it for me if i get 75% avg on my report card so far i went from 58% to 68.3% just about there ^_^

Apple good for graphics (better than Microsoft) BUT you choice screen is too small - the resolution is very low, I think the 17" is the one for that.. but... but... the price! the price!

Unless you need a laptop don't! You pay for portability, better get a desktop as it's generally better, only you can't lug it about
