(edited version) ok i'll make this a simpler question so every one can under stand when doing upgrades on computers is there any thing to look out for when doing so. such as should i keep the computer plugged in(but turned off) while puting the new hardware in so it does have ground wire to send power though ?

I was told by a friend that you have to watch out for static electricty and to make sure you dont touch any metal bits so when I put new hardware into my computer I unplug everything and make sure I dont touch anything except the plastic at the edges of the hardware I'm installing. Although all I have ever put in is more RAM and a new graphics card. You can get special gloves and clothing if you want to take it that far but it depends on the computer I suppose.

When dealing with any electrical appliances, always make sure there is no power running- that means unplugging it at the mains. Also, with computers, you need to earth yourself to remove static discharge from your hands and body before working on a computer. You can do this by touching the metal case of your computer before you begin.
