Hey how's everyone been doing? i know i haven't posted for ages but i have been present (no, really).

anyways i'm just started thinking about the design for a new site and was wondering if people could tell me:

what internet connection they have
what screen resolution they use

obviously this is so the site can be tailored to the majority of net users

i'll try posting some artwork up soon too

cheers! null

512k connection.
1024 x 768 screen res.
I think thats pretty common for people using the net today, although I know a few people who use a higher screen res. I'd post what thiers is but I have enough trouble remembering my own .
Anyway I hope its helps

Hey Akatt
I'm currently using a 56K dial-up, but will be using a connection 5 times that speed by next week

I use Internet Explorer 6. 32 bit high colour. and my screen res is 1152x864.

Most people use 1024x768 resolution, but I'd reccomend allowing 800x600 users access to your site, also consider the 1200x1600 or higher users!

I've got cable and a 1280x1024 rez.
As Bomu said, try to keep it 800x600-friendly and so that slow connections don't have long loading times. That way, you're sure -everybody - on the net can browse your site properly (and what better majority is there than 100%? )

Cheers everyone.

Zankouken - yeah it does help thanks

Bomu - catering for both 800/600 and 1600/1200 is the main prob. The site is being designed to showcase my short films (which haven't been finished) and so i want it to be quite stylish to impress any producers/studios out there so i can get some industry experience. Prob of vcourse that thinks that look slick and minimal in 1600/1200 can look cluttered and cumbersome in 800/600. The other way around, things that look cool in 800/600 can look just wrong in the toher res. Esp text in any images. ahHH!!

Bugsy - yeah, that's what i've always done recently in the past, but this is supposed to be a proffetional site which will only really be viewed by other companies and peopl (i assume) that can affored the latest tech.

oh well
