What do YOU want to see done with this message board?

- HAVE MORE GENERAL SECTIONS?
Ie. Introductions, photos/polls, cool websites of interest...

- HAVE MORE ARTWORK RELATED SECTIONS
and represent more of an 'Artwork Help' community...

- HAVE MORE GENRE ORIENTATED SECTIONS
Ie. One for 'Anime' one for 'TV and Movies' one for 'Video games'...

- HAVE ALL THE ABOVE?

- KEEP IT SMALL and AS IS?

I think it'd be nice to see separate forums on general areas like Anime/animation, Manga/Comic books and Video Games because there is little crossover between mediums. Each medium tends to stick to its own but they're all united by 'artwork'.

On the art side, it'd be a good idea to get visitors showing their artwork and creations. Forums on Finished Artwork and Work in Progress would guide visitors to post in well designated areas, and everyone would know exactly what each section will contain. It's better than leaving it all to one single forum of odds 'n sods.

C'later!

Hmmm, yes, yes, presactly what I thought, yes

I'll try going for the artwork help community thing, with extra general genre specifics, like I mentioned earlier...

We'll see how the, "The more the better" system ends up panning out

I have such a headache, but never mind...

Howdy, Ben! Hows you mate?

Nice looking board by the way - hopefully this message reaches you!

Um, well, I'm not much into message boards and so on, but at least a little piece maybe where people can eff and blind and offend as much as they please would certainly separate this board from others...

Alright mate. Yeah, I gathered you're not the forum goer type, and you ain't been much a a mail-list type recently either
I thought you and I could start up the occassional discussion tread like "JSR fanart CG progress" or "Fruity Loops- How the Hell...???" *lol*

Well I thought about one of them rant, rave, flame fellow members, spam etc. section thingys, but decided against it since I've seen it tear apart forum communities after like a week! Mind you, if you wanna get something off your chest, use the 'Lounge'! The lounge can be the text equivilent to a real lounge, celler, bedroom, cafe, pub or sixth form common room

Common room, eh?

Well, so far's I can tell, there's a pretty good amount of sections of the board already. I'm not sure how quickly your average message board community grows, but I would suggest not branching out too much in the early stages. That-a-way you can get a few good forums up and running, an' when the masses start pouring in, you can add more forums to handle the load of new members and the wide array of conversations they bring.

Wise words Jebadeezer. Before Krafty's post there was just 3 or 4 different forums- only one for artwork >_<

I'm glad I expanded since art forums make up the bulk of my forum life, not to mention the fact it's the same subject as the rest of the site.

I'm sure I could get a fair few new members if I was to email all the people that know or knew me from other forums I visit. Trouble is, I havn't time to email them all, plus I think it's a bit of a 'sly' tactic- I'll by all means let people know that I think will be genuinely interested, but I'd rather have people visit 'cos they want to rather than 'cos I've emailed them personally, telling them to come

I think he's probably right too. When I look at a message board and there are hoards of forums, I can never be bothered to look at them all. Don't worry though, "If you build it, they will come."

And 'pop', he's gone...

If you haven't already, for all the other message boards you frequent, you could put an eye-catching little link to this message board. Perchance a banner. "Organic Metal: Now Presenting Forums!"

"Dear home owner, find out how you can save hundreds of dollars on your credit card"
Firstly I don't own a home, or a credit card and it obviously only applies to residence of the USA *sigh* but yeah, I suppose if I can do it tactfully, email promo wouldn't hurt ^_^

Sometimes, the spammers will get you, by somehow including your first name, (as given in your e-mail). You'll see that e-mail subject, "Hey, Matt, it's been a long time", only to open the message and find to your horror that it's only a crafty spammer with a wild new plan on how to "Make $$$$$ Now!!!!".

Anyway, though, it's nice to see these forums growing in numbers. I hadn't checked the boards in a few days, and now there's new posts everywhere.
