And the no html in sigs? what's that about, or is that UBB thing?

User name- Change it whenever you like, but try not to when nessasary or it could lead to confussion (I predict)

Member status- Can't be customized (like eZbords). Newbies have 0-15 posts, Juniors have I think 16-50 posts, Members have something like 50-300 after that is a secret ^_~

Avatars- Are those 'lil pics under your name. At the moment there's 20 pre-made avatars (all of which aren't too appealing), but they're there for people that want them and untill I can make some good ones ^_^

Custom Avatars- Only I have one and Krafty managed to get one since he imputted a url into the avatar field before I installed the avatar feature (sneeky!). But generally I havn't brought them into play yet for members. I plan to award custom avatars to people with member status or if they deserve one ^_^ Once you've earned a custom avatar pic, post it on the board or email it to me and I'll assign it to your user name. Avatar sizes will be no bigger than 80x80pxl (so you could have 20x70) and no bigger than 10KB in file size.

Sigs- The reason you're not allowed html in them is 'cos if it's imputted incorrectly it can damage the board (screw up the formatting etc). It also makes for slower loading times if they're full of tables, pictures, music consoles or whatever else you put in them!
If you're using pics in your sig please make sure the file size isn't huge- something like 20K would be enough. Once I added up all the total file sizes in people's pics and avatars at PK and they came to nearly 650KB after 20 replies in a thread!! Over 200K came from just 1 avatar pic (animated intro to FF8.. yeah, you know who you are).

"UBB" code is a safe language that only the board understands- other forums like eZboard use the same system and after a while it becomes real easy to use as an substitute to html. Read the FAQ for details.

As far as posting nudity goes- I'm cool with that, but yeah, a warning would be considerate- Either in the title or the message. If it's tasteful nudity it doesn't really matter too much since I can't see people getting offended by it. Use your own judgement on that one.

Why not just use an eZbaord? Answer-
Firstly eZboards are full of ads and banners and I hate them for it!
Second- Amin and members have more control over a UBB for example, members can delete thier own threads or send PMs to each other. And because the board is stored on my own server space Admin can install "hacks"- little extras that help customize the board. For example I could install 100 more Instant Graemlins, more message icons or extra status names with little colour stars depending on the post count

By the way, it's not nessasary to register to post. Doesn't mean your ip doesn't gett logged.. I thought that might be wise for people that just wanna stop by and say hi without becomming a regular. Unregistered members don't have user stats or a post count etc.

- I did adjust the board width slightly from something like 92% of the screen width to 95% about a month ago, but it shouldn't have made a huge difference. The space between the member user name and their forum post seems a little wider though.. or it might just be me?
