Hey Ben. We got mad asians and anime fans down here. But not as much as asia lol. Well no duh. But we need people who can draw. I want to learn so much. I got one of ur books. You know the one that came with the kit. I wish you were down here and you could set up a manga teaching convention. That would be the best. I live in freehold. They never hold anything here geeze.

P.S This isn't a request. This is just I wish.

Hi AnimePin0yFan. I'm honoured you'd want me to come over and teach drawing manga stuff and wotnot. I personally never thought myself qualified enough to make the books I've worked on, so wouldn't know where to start with a teaching convention! I'm just glad my work can be an inspiration to those starting out, and hope as I improve, I'll become more worthy of a minor ‘celebrity’ status within the world of art and manga

This is off topic but my friends mom got mad seeing that the book has well u kno... the girl lifting up her shirt to see her bra and the girls with big u know! So he wouldnt get it. My family knows im lust full so i got it.

Lol, some people are silly... Most how-to-draw-anime books have those kinda poses in'em. One that I got has a whole chapter "undressing"

LOL! It's true- you get a lot worse in most books. I have the "How to Draw Bishoujo" (pretty girls) book, which I think Bugsy is probably talking about you actually see exposed breasts in that one! I can see why parents might think suggestive poses and wotnot aren't suitable for young kids. But then, what do parents do when their kids go to the beach and see a girl in a bikini or a busty lady walking down the street?

In the last book I worked on (will be out later this year), it was aimed more at younger kids, so I had to tone things down a lot. I wasn't even allowed to draw girls in skirts and the female characters weren't allowed to have any breasts! In many cases, sexy girls or large breasts and anime go hand in hand, so it seems wrong to censor things in this way.
Don't even get me started on the violence censoring!

Parents getting mad over big boobs? What do they think will happen if their kids see it- turn into rapists or perverts?
I'm only having fun when I draw a girl with a larger chest or a panty shot, same with practically all artists. I don't draw it to be degrading towards women or offend people, so can't understand why anyone would have a problem with it. ?

The very same, lol!
The issue on breasts (and nudity in [mostly non-academic] art) is pretty culture-dependent tho. It seems that in the States, it's much more of a big deal than in Japan, or even Europe. Lol, they should see some of our shampoo ads

some parents are messed up, i cant belive they would get the book cos of a bra LOL

and like ben said

you can not draw a manga woman without her just happening to have big boobs or just being sexy for no apparent reason, you cant help it! it just happens!

lol i cant wait for the book. my friends mom let him buy it. plus i think hot girls is a challenge. im really stuck trying to draw girls...even their faces. plus i cant draw the body of any of them. IM COMPLETELY STUCK! And my parents trust me and they trust that i dont copy the things in the books.

we r talking about ben's book the art of drawing Manga right? am sry but this book is really toned down for wat lot's of books i read in jap imports stores have(i mean this in the sense that the pics r not as flashy not about info i quite enjoy my copy). For as how to draw managa books go, this one is pretty well censored as good as it can be.
and if the parents r that worried about wat there kids r looking at they r proubly about 5 years old watching pokemon and all they want is picture book about pokemon. they don't really care about drawing really i know i tried to teach kids a little but it had no effect they end up ignoreing u kinda like school everyone ignores u lol!!!.

well that was my 2 cents i hope it gave u all some change hehe

My mom didn't care if I got that book. she is overprotective and all, but she makes jokes out of all that nudity and crap. I know this friend's mom who lets this kid listen to any music, (with any language), any movie (he's 12 yrs. old!) and he can pretty much do watever he wants. he's constantly swearing infront of his parents and they don't care, I just think that's insane. anyways, about your book. I got it and I got a huge poster in my room of the girl lifting ip her shirt. I draw some busty ladies, nothing bad about it!

I can draw the planet's hottest girls! and I'm good too. your book is the first book on manga I've ever had and it started me out so good that i can compare to a professional, like ben, too! (ps, I only draw girls. I have never drawn a man in my entire life.)
