How is it I would go about contacting Ben/Bomu to commission him for a project? I am sorry if I missed this crucial information on the site but considering I did I think this IS the right place to ask about it? Thank you.
Oh and.. I am a registered member but haven't posted.. just forgot I wasn't logged in.. as I read this and didn't feel like going through login and coming back. Excuse the laziness.

Yes that is what I am referring to. However, I do not see anything on there saying how I should contact him. Should I simply PM him and wait for a reply, or is there an email, or even IM program that can be used? Thanks again.

Hehe, with such tight deadlines, there wasn't much chance for fun. Getting my name out there in the industry is a bonus, but isn't something I've ever really wanted. It was simply a case of being approched by the publisher and asked to work on their project. As a freelancer, you need to take every oportunity you can to earn a little cash (providing it's worth your while). I do recived royalties per book sold, but it's a very low amount, and unlike pop stars and their CDs, I'd have to shift millions to make decent money and there just ain't that many manga fans out there, let alone ones that wanna draw it and let alone art newbies who would wanna by a book about it and even then there's still dozens of different kinds of manga tutorial book on the market!

I bought The Art of Drawing Manga (one without set) from Barnes & Noble and I was considering buying the dark blue one (seen it at my book fair at school.. I know a few people bought it). I would've but didn't have any money on me v_v
[EDIT] Hmm.. I just noticed that the versions of The Art of Drawing Manga on the site depicts the cover girl with a gun.. yet the version I bought has the cover girl with her hand out. I thought it was that way but I just decided to check.
Out of curiousity is the gun version only available on site, in countries other than America, or did I just not find one where she holds a gun? Cause I was thinking.. stupid American censorship.. but the girl at the end is holding two guns (picture by Dan Fielding.. who did a great great job by the way).

- That's right. It's American censorship- you can have a gun WITHIN the book, but not on the cover. I was originally presented with an image which the publisher wanted to use on the cover [not my own design] but due to the censorship rules, I was asked to re-do the image, but without the gun. Then I was told the gun version was ok for the rest of the world, so asked to edited the "open hand" image to include the gun- as with the original image I was given! So much fuss over this cover.. Obviously I woulda been happier for them to use the original cover design I came up with before having to re-work other's existing art etc, but that's clients for ya!
