I was wondering bomu, since you make how to draw books, how did you get them promoted and where?
Thank you.

Basically I just did the drawing for the publisher's books! I was asked to work on the books and the publishers did the marketting and already had publishing partners and stores lined up to sell the book.
If I had tried to get a book published by myself it might be a lot harder to market the book if the publishers didn't deal with that side of things.
Why'd you ask. Thinking of getting yourself published?

Nah, I am not good enough... I got a friend who just published her manga she had some trouble finding advertisement...
I was also wondering, do you use geometric figures, stick figures, ect. to draw your pics? If not, what is your technique?

I'm still experimenting all the time when it comes to creating artwork- sometimes I start with the eyes and work my way outwards to draw a character, sometimes I rough out characters using stick figures and shapes. I'm going for something a little more technical I draw from life or photos.
I don't feel qualified enough to teach the ultimate best method of constructing a character! Differnt people will prefer doing it differnt ways but if you're a begginer starting out, working with shapes and guide lines to get the proportions right should help.

Always thinking about it, but nothing confirmed yet. I had been asked to do a book on creating and colouring manga characters with photoshop a few months back, but couldn't fit it in around my job easily, plus the pay wasn't too great. I wonder who they got to work on it in the end?
I get quite a few request which I end up turning down- maybe I should post them on the forum in case anyone else wants some paid illustration work?
