Looking good, pretty damn cool as well Funkenstein. Should be fun coloring this just about any rending is going to work well here.
Heh, when I first looked at this I thought and took that stuff as a Engine in the back! Then when I saw the piece falling down in the back I notice it was cook wear. Really, he didn't show much concern in tying it down now it seems almost like he is looking to chop that one into the tail rotor.
Aerial rendering are always going to be nice, can really make them spectacular with just about any lightning you pick.
Ok, now on the render flats you're off on a good start. It looks like you sort of rendered the chassis of the chopper going back into view with the front leering towards us. I think the chassis of the helicopter is well, but somehow I find it doesn't fully bring out the view as it could.
I think what help bring it out more is taking in more consideration to the nose of the craft. The way his hands are positioned to the stick is rather acting like a bicycle wheel! So, it looks like you gave it some of a impression I think you need to let that act more like that in the layers. Normally tho helicopter is all solid, i'd say have more fun with it as a illustrator aspect.
-Either way i'd say let it come at us more and give the viewer a better look that's in the craft as it's turning inward to his left by quickly showing us in the light concept.
(slightly more slant tilted bubble effect to us)-The other thing is in the wings, I think you could add alot more roll appearance if you revise the wing on the left. Give it the feel the chassis is actually going into a turn the wing is coming out more towards us smooth. So, I'd say hit us with some great use of artistic flare giving it that feel if wanted.
The characters seem to be going in smooth appearing they are slightly slipping out of their seats which is good. I really like how you have it going on.
Some parts are a little misleading mostly what's happening on the girls head. I believe you should add a flat somewhere on the edge of the hat showing there is color there as it begins to fold inward by wind or it's just mainly the hair is dark. Not sure what you intended their but I'd suggest to not leave such a big ink blot it will stick out more and more depending on how much brushing you do.
The other part you might possibly brush in it later, but I'd add just a thin notch of deeper shade to the guys jaw line. You sort of get the gist atm his head is skewing hard into her chest.. Putting in a deeper shade would also make the fallout effect better as the altitude drops slightly as they gain speed. You could've done it in the rendering just depends how you work really.
Mostly, just drive at it and really make some illustrator shines/bends. I think this might be something you could tackle with a mix of digital/traditional possibly if you wanted.
Also, I'd say go nuts on the cook-wear! Make'em with well place shines would be a nice rich look. Heh, good luck on doing that light breathy dress with wind blowing! Probably be cool if you tackled it with hard bold hits where the cloth bends due to the air wind. But, you can make it easy on yourself whichever it's going to be cool.
Small nitpick, I think the tail-rotor doesn't have enough squish to it somehow. I'd say play with I just feel the top should be more ecstatic somehow since it's cutting down into the field or try tilting it more. It's hard to depict how it should be done due to the lightning bouncing oddly but it's fine with how it's done. (maybe if you add more tilt/roll to the chasse)
Anyway, good flats so far. Hope, some of that helps make it better.
