thanks guysGiAm - they've been designed by a rebel faction and are cunningly made to look cute. As one goes o hug them their main cannons come into site (as they're around the side). But by then it's too late!
and yeah the ground sucks. Basically this was an experiment (as most of my 3d stuff is). It started off with me trying to create a mech of some kind. here's the very first version (can't believe i still have it):
and heer's when i frist tried adding texture:
when i got the final texture (as seen in the main pic) i started to build scenery around the mech. Went thru various designs and eventually it "grew' into the dust.jpg pic. The ground looks bad cos it's just a flat plane and the texure isn't too detailed. Also I don't know how to bum,p-map and other things to make terrain look as it should.
Well there's a long message. Can u tell i'm bored?
Bomu - well i just explained the terrain. I used 3DS max v2. Any Photoshopping? Well the picture is produced by the computer rendering a 3D image. (just like a console except not in real time). Orginally i had the computer render the scene where objects can CAST shadows on each other. That took more than 8hours to render half the pic. Therefore I had to render it where the objects didn't cast shadows on the scenery. All the 'ground' shadows are actually various black shapes a few pixels deep.
Okay i'm out know.
