Here's a pic i've been working on for a month and finally the character is finished. Haven't done a background yet but maybe I'll do one later. Hope you like it cos it's taklen me very very long.
I was trying ot go for a more realistic approach and mainly to 'paint' on computer without having lines.

Looks Fab. Reminds me of your first work which you posted her, but 20 times better, so the time and effort must have really paid off. Really like those plasticy looking clothes shes go on. Perhaps the color tone transitions are still a little too sharp and more softening and blending might have made it look smoother and a little less sketchy in places. Kepp it up!

thanx Bomu for the critics. Yeah it does look a bit sketchy but i was going for a painterly look. I don't really like her hair or face but hell hopefully i'll get better. And hopefully i'll be able to afford a tablet at the end of this year. Here's an alternate version with diff coloured clothes (which do have textures -somewhere) and a more interesting BG whose light does not affect her.
BTW saw that Mia pic (coloured) at Polykarbon. Really cool!!

This is without a tablet? wow! That's awesome. The best I've seen from you.
I'd suggest a bit more contrast. You might wanna try adding a bit of red mixed with the original skin color to the skin areas Especially in the shadow parts. Sorry I don't make any sense!

This is amazing with no tablet! This is all mouse work? Woaaaa.
Basically everything looks really really great. ^_^ I'm going to state however (gasp), that the BG of the purple outfit is just a little too bright/busy. Be cool if she was at like a dark dance club thing or something =) I happen to think that the blue outfit is better because it complements her hair. (orange--blue.) Her hand looks a little funny to me because the space between her wrist and the start of her fingers is not quite long enough. I think the skintones are fine except for the face. Add more depth around the eyes and the space between eye and eyebrow and slight shadows from the hair.
I am so sorry if I absolutely tore this apart... Hope this helps a little...

Great work. A month you say? woah. A lot of hard work must have went into it then. It turned out good, I think you got the clothing and its smooth texture perfect.

Thanx for the c&c guys. great that you all generally liked it.
Ayzie - thanks. Yeah agree with you about the skin. It was the first thing i did and since i was terrified of the this project i thought i'd made the skin too dark (everything else was white at the moment) - but after i did the clothes and hair the skin receded and looks really pale. If i can bring myself to rework this peice i will.
GiAm - burning your retina?? heh wait til my next project Sorry i really like saturated colours for some reason. The clothing in the second version has just been altered by placing a red 'overlay' layer above the clothes. This layer actually contains a texture to add depth to the clothes but i don't know if you can notice it. The only thing i can think fo about the arm is that the hand is slightly too small maybe someone else can point out exactly what the prob is?
Yeah i can't wait for the day i get a tablet either
animeOptical - cheers dude. I kinda put all my effort into the character so didn't really have the energy to do a decent BG. Th BG in the second is just another pic i did which i just changed the hue of and slotted in the back. Next time i'll plan the whole thing out with the BG in mind. Yeah i see what you mean about the hand and face. The face is really flat.
Sin - thanks dude. Hey btw - 'i'll sleep when i'm dead' - i tend to use that phrase alot too
