@___@; ive attempted this picture dozens of times. . this has got to be my 4th version, its still not the way i wanted it...but im happy with it!
its Tetsuo from Akira, and yes he looks odd in my picture

Nice very nice!! Im not sure exactly what it is that makes him look different.....although he kinda looks like that little no-talking girl form the Wings Honeames(sp?)
Its all a very solid drawing and composition he just looks delicate is all(thats not a bad thing at all).

I like this alot! I love the moon The style is a tad different from Katsuhiro's, but still Tetsuo is very recognizable. So: awesome work!

thanks for the comments!
the style isnt like otomo's is it? ^.^; ever since i bought my first akira fanmanga ive grown fond of non-otomo akira art *does that make sense?* im not very good at it making my own though
medium? the forground is watercolor the background is acryllic, but oddly i painted the forground first
oh, my acryllic is shiny o_O so it doesnt scan properly

Cindy, I think creating your own style (something different from Otomo's style) is a good thing ^__^ Oh, btw I simply luuuuuurrrrrve this picture, cant you tell? (but whenever have I NOT liked one of your pics?)
Hmmmm who was it that said Tetsuo looked fragile in this pic? I like that, making him look vunerable(sp?) in contrast to his character in the manga/anime (well ok most of the time) Ok enough rambling....Im half asleep here *shuffles off*

first of that is a impressiv drawing on its own.
as for the question if it looks like tetsuo I had a hard time to see that.
I think the main reason for this is the forehead. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of tetsuo is his relativ huge forehead, that is normaly not much covered by his hear.

very nice pic Kaori. i don't reckon tetsuo looks odd but i think G's right about the forehead. The bg is cool as well.
one thing i'd say is that from the way you've lighted Tetsuo it looks as if the light source should be coming from the right but the moon is directly behind him, so in theory we shouldn't see most of the lighted side since it's facing the moon. hope that made sense.

lol, his big forehead ^.^; being a nut, i must perfect his imperfections! he doesnt have much front hair in the anime, but in the second manga, there are a few pics where he has lots
as for lighting, i understand perfectly! its one of my habits, as hard as i try to break it, im terrified of using dark shadows, or a strong light source >__< i have a tendency to always make light come from everywhere, even when its dark

Really nice, i like it, the only things i would comment are... that Tetsuo and the boulder he is sitting on, are (maybe for my eyes only) too bright (maybe because of the different materials used), and he could usw some more shadows on his body, especially the pants. Dunno know why but my attention is spared mostly between the moon and his leg, because its seems so bright to me, so my first look wasnt goin to his face. All in all a great pic.

after i scanned it i did brighten it up a bit o_o;; my scanner hates acrylic so it made the background greyish. .
the shadows are slightly darker on his pants, but i'll make sure next time to make sure they dont glow ^^;
i dont think its that obvious in this picture. . but in my earlier attempts you can tell when i switched from watercolor to acylic
