This is my first entry with a finished piece on this site, this is a character i made inspired by joe madureira's stuff and my love for rpg characters, this guy is an ex-soldier making his way as a merc for sale, he's highliy skilled in the use of his spear 'stinger' and throwing knives, im going to create friends and foes for this character in the future. comments please

Do a different background, those red Beams are just disturbing wrong!

Other than this the dude is very tight.
I find him pretty and the influence of Joe is definitive there.

Wow, funky colouring. I am truly in awe of your cel shading, particularly the shadows u used. as a matter of fact, I've been giving it a try on a piece I'm working on - expect it on the board at soem point. I don't get what's with the background G, u think u could elaborate?

Well sorry if I sounded too harsh here(tho it was kinda intentinal).

But I think there are some problems with the background.
First of are the colors which are to bright and draw alot attention to them because of this it is hard to focus on the guy.

Also I have a problem with the way the BG was done.
It is rather obvoius that it was quickly done with filters, dont get me wrong I'm perfectly fine with using filters to shorten worktime, but it should compliment the drawing(its the same as with the lensflare filter).

In my opinion the drawing would have been better without a real BG and just a shadow indicating that he is standing on the ground(which is another problem with it).

I will close this with the words from a teacher I had "spend the same amount of thinking on a background, as you do for the things you want to draw"...."A background should support the objects not draw attentions away from it".

The BG looks like an explosion, makes him look more heroic I think. With that flare in the background it makes it stand out much better.
