A colour pencil drawing that took me about 20 or so hours (spread out over a few days). Ever so slight sexual undertone, but it's mainly very tender. I look forward to your crits and comments...

I thing their chest sections looks abit odd especial micheles(was that her name?) boobs seem outa place.

Interesting comment, G. U think u could elaborate a bit, to give me an idea of how to correct it in future? Thanks loads.
How's the colouring, by the way? Do you reckon the skintone and shading look OK?

I think the girl would look more attractive without the washboard abs, but that's just my own personal taste

Though I believe it's really hard for girls to get abs like that, unless they train pretty vigourously.

About that - Michelle is actually a genetically enhanced human (now where have I heard that one before?). As such, she's more agile and stronger than your bog standard soldier. For more on this, check out the site in my signature. Hope that clears up the mystery of her abs.

ahh, sorry for being unclear, I just meant to say that a regular girl wouldn't have abs as defined as that. But since you said she's like an enhanced soldier, it makes sense to me now. Ignore my previous comment

Argh a bit late but uhwee.
I did a overdraw to show what I mean.

My main problem was,
that the breast farther away from the viewer seems to be pressed against her chest, in a hurting fashion by angelo.
The other breast should be more to the front of her chest.
Angelo is seen from a perfect side view, so once again nipples more to the front

For the abs personaly I think they are to pronuced aswell, muscels mainly shows when they are contracted.
But she seems in a very relaxed position.
Also the abs arent that important for strength and agility.
I would suggest to only indicate them most of the time.
Beside you seem to draw them a little to small and to conform.

The coloring is pretty good.
Maybe make the shadows a bit bigger (next time) and experiment with mixing colors.

Thanx very much G. I've saved the overdraw to my hard drive and will examine it in thorough detail to see how to improve. Thank you for taking the time to actually overdraw it and analyse it in detail. Heck, maybe I'll redraw this pic.
Thing is, I hardly use basic lines to map out my drawings any more, because ppl keep saying 'It looks too rigid.' 'Not natural enough.' etc. What do you think about this? Do you agree, or beg to differ?

Hey Angelo, use guide lines, it can only help. It's much easier to get proportions down with them, and I don't see how they can make a character look rigid. Usually a person may look rigid because of an unnatural pose.

Hm I know the problem Angelo.
Personaly I say the task of a helpline is to help, so if you have the feeling a helpline hinders you, than dont use it.

Nowadays, I believe in all those tutorials try to show you as many guides as possibly, but only for their way of doing things.
It is your job to see what guides can help you and/or change them, to work better with your way of doing things.

But what is more important imo for getting proportions right and overall producing a good image is to measure as much as you can (usualy using the head as a base).
