Just got Painter, and was playing around with the cool brushes it has

Don't normally go in for this traditional art bizniz but i think its good practice. I think ill try and do one of these a week each time using a different medium. Didn't think painter was quite as polished as a program though. It crashed once, and if you press the windows key instead of alt by mistake it zooms in, switches to the crop tool, and switches to the background layer which happened alot and was most annoying

Anyway this represents about 6hrs of scribbling.

Wotcha reckon?

Not bad dude

It's got a very sculptured feel to it which kinda gives is a 'posterized' look.
Not used Painter myself, but it's useful to find out gripes from a beginer before I attempt something in Painter.

I would really recommend it in terms of the brushes. The amount of effects you can get is limitless - I used to think photoshop had complex brushes but theyre nothing compared to painter. Also its way easier to draw lineart into painter with the tablet, and it has a whole set of inking brushes. I think the interface is better on photoshop, but in Painter 9 they made alot of the shortcuts the same. Its still a bit sad when you press ctrl something out of habit for some reason and nothing happens

Hey, I like it. Seen a lot of these painter pics on traum4tized forums. The body itself is done really well. Maybe have a few more slightly split ends on the hair, looks a little plastic atm. But great nonetheless.

Very nice pic Jats, all in all great proportions and all that

i agree with Angelo that the hair could need a little more as it doesnt feel as fluid as the rest of the picture. I think its really the bottom right corner of her hair is two rounded - see below for area in question -

i dont know what to suggest to change it but i think thats what makes the hair look too solid, hopefully i have explained what i wanted too if not reply with "Webb you fool what are you talking about!?" or a similar style of post

Thanks for the commments guys. yeah, the hair could be more detailed, I just thought I'd leave it sketchy out of artistic license (laziness)

Hey, looking great! The only thing I can suggest is make the eyes look less flat, give them more depth. It doesn't look like they're actually eyeballs inside the head, but more like paper eyes glued to the head, if that makes sense
