- Find a CG style that you like
- Get to know your graphics software intimately
- understand the basics of CGing such as layers, flatting etc. Comic color is pretty good for that, if you don't already know.
- Then just sit down in front of your PC and try to replicate the same CG style that you like on one of your works!

Hopefully afterwards you'll understand how and why a colourist colours the way they do and you could then go on to evolve your own style?
At the end of the day, it's mainly practice, patience and knowledge, so until I think of anything specific that might help, it's up to you

PSP= PaintShop Pro. I've seen some great stuff made with it, but sure, if you've got access to PS (PhotoShop), use that. Anyone here work with Painter?

(Hey sentient, I know you're only mucking around, but no name calling 'k?)

Hmm I used Painter a couple of times. I just don't feel comfortable with it, not even with its airbrush tool. :

grml made with PSP
tnx to metalman for the lines.

I said I use it .

but serious I would say it is easier to learn the basics of PSP, than those of PS.
But it takes some time practice and thinking to get good with PSP.

Eh I don't use Painter but played a little bit with the classic version around (comes free with the graphire tablet). It looked not bad but not realy what I would use [I like the technical aspect of PSP PS more(read layer and filter playing)] and the classic has an ultra limited undo (I think something around 5 steps).
