Anyone else like me? Any interest/skill/hobby, you start out really good at, you find it really fun, very easy yet rewarding.

Then all the sudden, you just get to a sticking point, you can't improve beyond medeocre, you just stick like glue you can never improve only get weaker! And all your hard work seems like it is just to maintain where your at right now!

EVERYTHING is like that for me, EVERYTHING I do! Some things im really good at, but just start to suck at once I really try and take ahold of it. Even if I excell at it as a beginner. While others may have a very poor start, they can just keep improving with more time and practice.

Why the fuck can't I improve at drawing? Now I remember why I don't stick with anything I never improve no matter how hard I try or every approach I take! It's why I can't major in any real career or become anything exceptional in any field, drawing included.

It is really frustrating! Anyone here could have some terrible accident, start drawing with their left (or right hand if they are left handed). Starting all over they would eventually acheive my skill level and surpass it, even though I would have X amount of years of a jump start!

Maybe I just reach a plateau and need to devote my whole life to breaking it or what the fuck ever. Thats whats got me down and thats why I post shit like this sorry! One thing I keep improving on is being a crybaby, I just need to find a way to make money doing that.

Sorry if this isnt the answer you're looking for..

I've been though the same thing Keith. But it gets better. Maybe try finding inspiration from something else or doing something different with your art or just take a break for a while?

It's like most things - you just have to keep at it, even if it means taking a few months break and chilling out, not doing any drawing. The best artists I know are the ones that draw every day and hence are at a level when anything they draw looks good, so they continue to draw since they know they'll produce cool looking stuff and will enjoy doing it in the process.
Heh, I'm not one of those artists, and although I've said I'd pack it in and never draw again, I always come back for more, just because I wanna produce work like all these other cool artists are doing! But when I start getting frustrated, I do something else. It's no good doing something if it's making you frustrated or unhappy.

Yeh what Bomu and AKATT said,
It's always good to take a break, if you draw 24/7 you'll start to suck, unless you're one of the super artists Bomu described.

Just take a break for a while, it'll come back

Yeah you guys are rightSeemed like when i first started (resumed) drawing I was getting better every day. Now I can't even draw as good as when i first started drawing.

The problem is my brain cannot translate a 2D image from my head onto the paper, unless I 'cheat' and take an outline/refference/trace, and even then it sucks. If I can't get a grasp of this im screwed basically.
My imagination is all twisted too! I can close my eyes and visualize an exellent drawing, but cannot put it on paper no matter how hard I try. I know the best artists can do this, as well as most people can look at a photograph and draw it.

I don't want to be the worlds greatest drawer, but all I want is to be able to think somthing up, draw it, and have it come out reasonably close to the way I imagined it. Whenever I draw somthing it looks nothing like I imagined it, it changes so much its pathetic. Even if I draw somthing decent, it looks nothing like what I anticipated, its just a fluke that it doesn't look like crap. Lately I've just been trying to draw somthing to practice CG'ing and I can't even do that.

I know getting frustrated doesn't help abit so I think im going to calm the fuck down and take some time off like Bomu said.
My drawing conditions are stressfull (lots of noise, phones, people always barging in ex...), and theres alot of shit outside drawing that pisses me off so maybe thats spilling over into my drawing. Also having bought the cheapest shit I could find has kinda bit me in the ass too.
I know people say that doesn't matter but cheap pencils that keep breaking and have incosistant graphite, imperfections ex... Cheap paper, and a crappy pencil sharpener just make it all the worse.

I am basically trying to see if I can get good enough at art to make a career out of it in some shape or form. After that I want to spend a little money on say a drafting table, better art supplies (electric pencil shapener to save time, inking tools, ex...). I'de just hate to do all that If I have absolutely no chance of improving whatsoever, that would blow!

I'll take your advice bomu! And maybe even start over completely and change my drawing style even. Thanks for reading all that crap I post when I'm mad. If I ever do improve you can count on these rant threads being alot shorter I promise!!!!!
