Eyes - i have real trouble drawing them partly closed. Can anyone teach me a thing about the fine art of drawing closed/partly closed eyes?

Well drawing is 80% observing and 20% practice(imo). So I would say your best bet is, to look up some reference material (both anime and realife). Study and then Practice it, everyday the whole day (hehe cheap desperados quote but its spot on). Seriously thought, it would be easier if you posted your effort. So we can get a Idea where the problem lies.

Watch some anime movies and tape them. unless you own some already. Pause the tape when you see someone partially close their eyes. Depending if you want a female try looking at Rayne from G- Gundam, she always has her eyes partially closed. As for a male any anime show is good. Remember, the eye lid isn't closed all the way so you have to leave some space for the eye ball so it looks like the character is emotional or something.
