Just wondered if I was the only guy on here who's entire art set consists of, two HB pencils and a bic biro ?. Oh, and some shitty Derwent colouring pencils Ive lost for the time being.

Any suggestions of what I should buy to improve my work ?. Ive always liked to keep things simple but for pro work i'll need pro tools.

Haven't got much myself; just some pencils, an eraser, 3 sakura micron ink pens, and some rulers and curves.
Don't really feel like I need much at the omment, since all my colouring is done on the computer. Some day I might try out oil paints or something.

oil paints can be fun, till they get on your clothes anyway! I prefer acrylics - they still aren't going anywhere if you paint your shirt with 'em mind you, but you can mix them with water (as opposed to white spirit) and they dry quickly (some might say a little too quickly, but oh well!) I occasionally paint my pictures; I've got oils and some acrylics around the house somewhere but generally I just scan them and computer colour em. Depends what mood I'm in.
Anyway, for the actual drawing part, I just use a mechanical HB or a 2H, and this cool rubber I got that's shaped like a pencil (a friend got it from a japanese shop called Muji, I think). Plus my fineliner pens of course. I've been wondering whether its worth investing in a decent tablet for the PC - anyone have any thoughts on this?

if you really like cg'ing and want to continue doing it alot, I really recommend a tablet. It doesn't have to be a whopper. Personnaly I have a Wacome Graphire (old version) and it suits me just fine X3
Haven't had the chance to try out an Intuos tho o_o

0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 size Mechanical pencils along with 10 Copic markers which I hardly use and are too expensive Xo £5.25 per marker :/

3 different sized black permanent markers

0.1 - 0.7 DR Pilot ink pens and a oddly pen shaped eraser :3

When it comes to paint I had 40 or so pots of acrylic paint from GamesWorkshop (u'know the model paint) lol half of them I stole, back in the days when I was rather naughty :3

As Bugsy said, a tablet is higly recommended I have a wacom2 A6 got it for £80 or so and tbh this is perfect.

yeah, my acrylics are games workshop (warhammer) ones as well. Just don't get the new ones from there (I say new, they were new the last time I properly played a game of warhammer, which was like... '98) cos they dry out too fast and are way too expensive, like everything in there!

Thanks for the info about the tablets too, I think I'll look out for one when I get my new PC.

I have a few mechanical pencils and and a whole buncha colored pencils and markers. I have photoshop and illustrator, but I suck at those, still learning.

I use a 0.5 mechanical pencil, and then I have regular HB pencils. I sometimes try out 2B's. I also have a 0.1 Staedler inking pen, and a Wacom Graphire Tablet. I also have some bottles of cheap acrylic paint, but never got around to trying them out

hm I have quite some art tools flying around in my room.
Airbrush set, spraycans, acryl, watercolors.
But I never really used the airbrush, because I dont have the right room for it.
Same goes with the spraycans.

Acryl didnt used them this year either.

Watercolors are just evil.

For stuff I use I have a mixture of mechanical, and normal pencils (using from 0.3 to 1.0 and from h2 to b normal and blue).

Also a set of 12 colorpencils and various pigmentliners and fineliners (from 0.05 to 1.0) for inking oh and three brushpens (but they are ultra hard to control).

When it comes to backgrounds I grip my ruler,triangles and frenshcurves.

Oh my newest addition is a huge,heavy lighttable my father got over ebay (has changed the way I work quite abit allready).

For CG I use a graphire 1 and Paintshop Pro 7/ 8 beta.

hm quite a long list I should sort out some of this.

um...

color pencils- i only use them for college

watercolors- about 15 colors in tubes, i got them for free and theyre top quality *loves her watercolors*

liquitex acrylics-liquitex acrylics are the best! smooth and creamy X)

india ink-black

pens for inking

and everything else..watercolor paper, brushes ect
