Having a preference for non photo blue (sometimes called non repro blue) pencils (prefereably mechanical) and bristol paper, I'm finding it a bit difficult to get them in this country. The stuff that companies like Blueline pro sell is fantastic, but I'd rather find a supplier in this country. Does anyone know of any good suppliers in the UK? Comic art supply specialists seem to be pretty much non-existant unless I want to pay horrendous shipping on my paper.

unfortunately, I'm not sure. From what I've found, the art shop in my area is quite good, but then it still doesn't sell non photo blue pencils or comic paper...
not sure where you live in the uk but if you're anywhere near london it'll probably be worth checking around there. Couldn't give you a specific place, but they'll problee have somewhere there... and you can problee find them in advance using a google search (.co.uk)

sorry I can't be more specific, but I know it is a pain in the arse finding decent art supplies in the uk... and expensive too.... >_<
uhm, I have a mate who lives in london and is a comic artist, and I know he's got various comic papers and things, so I'll ask him... but I think he got them from a comic shop - that might be worth checking too.

London: Graphic Design Center, is loaded with art gear. On the Picadilly Line get off at Covent Garden stn and erm... turn left go straight then left and straight once more, you'll have to go thru a stinky alley... lol just ask for the Graphics design center

Most art shops sell blue leads which fit into mechanical "click click" pencils. I have been meaning to by myself some blue leads to put in my 0.5mm pencil, but havn't had the time plus I've been making do with a standard blue colouring pencil if I need the blue stuff

Untill I started wandering around sites like this one, i never even thought of getting any specialist equipment. I just use a bic biro, and an HB pencil lol. I must sound like an art bum.

I dunno, I just have this impression inside that using specialised technical pencils and inks is kinda like draining the soul out of your art and making it less alive, and more artificial. That more than likely sounds stupid, but thats just me.

As for art shops, to my knowledge there isn't any near me. Never seen one anyway. Nearest is Leeds.

If you're after non-photo blue pencils then i'd recommend taking a look at Chromacolour's site.

They're an animation supplier and sell the industry standard col-erase pencils. As for papers I'm not too sure but I hope I've been some help.

Quite a coincidence running into another animator. I'm still doing my degree at Southampton. Whereabouts did you study?

I studied at Teesside.
It's a major dive, and the course was a bit crappy
