Ezekiel 25:17

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I'd never delve in and buy a really expensive package if I were a beginner.

There are a few "honest" routes to take- You can get earlier versions of Photoshop for a much cheaper price. They do roughly the same as the later versions, well, from v5+. They are sometimes given away from free on the front of magazines.

You could buy something like Paint Shop Pro. They call PSP the poor man's Photoshop, although I've seen amazing results with it. If I knew PSP well, I'm sure I could render my works as well as with Photoshop.

Psp is the poor mans Photoshop?.I feel so cheap and dirty lol
My only advice is if you are going with 30 day free trials with no intention of buying the program do not set it as the default program for opening your jpg's and gif's etc.. I always found it so annoying when everything tried to use a program that wasnt my friend anymore, but then again maybe I just didnt un-instal it properly

okeey dokeey. I don't mean to be mr. goody two shoes here, but i have version 8.0 (CS) of photoshop and paintshop pro 8.0, 9.0. I have no idea how to use PSP, even though I might find out soon if someone replies to my "how do I CG with paintshop pro?" subject, but as far as I can tell those two programs are hardly worth thier money! I spent 6 years of allowance money on photoshop and this is what I get? me don't thinxo. . but, NOBODY BUY IT, BY ORDERS OF CLOUD THE GREAT.
anyways, use an earlier version of photoshop, (5.0 is best) and another flaw of CS is that it doesn't have tools like "fill bucket" or anything else.
just keyboard shortkutz, wich I know thank God, but invest in somethin' cheeper. Ok?

I'll never figure out why Adobe and Macromedia decided to use two letter abbreviations instead of just sticking to numerical symbols... I mean really, they just had to switch the system because numbers made TOO much sense.

Took me a while to figure out that CS stood for Creative Suite, and what the heck does that mean anyway? That's like saying "Peanut Butter: Use On Toast". Realistically, the only reason they switched to the CS titling was to unify Adobe's other products so that people would know what the current version of everything was... but *Sigh* I guess it actually isn't that bad if you think about it... As long as they don't do something like Adobe CS 2005 2.33 LE or something...

Anyway, I'd recommend only buying Photoshop if you intend to use it for commercial productions... that being said, there are many available alternatives, as mentioned above.

I would just get the 30-day trial and when it reaches 3 days or so just re-download it. better than spending $850
