I've been having some real problems trying to Cg my drawings. I can't seem to ge the lines to be solid, there all kinda sketchy(I tried using a 6B pencil to lazy ink it butit made not change). Is there some big secret am missing? I've tried changing the contrast levels and such and still nothing. I feel hopeless.

draw them in 6h and then go over them smoothly in anything from a 2-8b. the 6h bits won't really get picked up by the scanner. then change the first box in the levels part of photoshop to about 80 and see how it looks. repeat if necessary

thats what I do anyway, there are various other ways to do it.

Have you tried inking over your line work with a pen? Some people like the sketchy line look, but if you're after something more solid, inking with pens is a good way to go.

Ok here we go... ajust the levels and the contrast (2 separate menus) once you are happy with the work. look where your layers are, make a copy of the background.then somewhere behind the layers there is a thingy called channels. click that to bring it up. one the bottom of that litte screen of channels is a little button with a circle in it on the bottom left. click it.
this will highlite your line work. go back to layers and zoom in a little so you can see the effect that is about to happen.
Grap the paint brush (make it a larg size, I use 300) and run it over the lines. If it blackens the with parts, step back once and select the magic wand, RIGHT click the pic and choose SELECT INVERSE.
Grap the paint brush and go over it again. Now with the lines only highlited, it will darken them up for you.
I believe this technique is on the tutorials here, but I am not sure of it.

this way is not the most stable method, but it works

. here wee go. first once your image is scanned in, adjust the contrst levels to get the lines a really light auqua color. print it out and ink it. scan it back in and go to the channels tab in the layers pallete. delete the red channel and magenta. now your pic should be nice and clean. okay? to make the lines darker just adjust the levels and go over any missing spots with the black pencil tool. if that doesn't work (mostly it doesn't, but it's worth a try!) then find yourself a different method. ther's also some CG tutorials on this site right here- organic metal tutorials
