I don't know if this is actually very widely known as a way of cging or not, but I just learnt about it and think its ingenious. I haven't tried it myself yet, so I don't know if its longer or quicker than airbrushing, but heres the guy's tutorial on it

using gradients in coloring is a often used technic especial as the beginning step for cuts-coloring.

he uses a bit of a different aproach.

If you have a grafic tablet I think using the airbrush is faster and alot more flexible then using gradients on its own.

But if your stuck with a mouse it seems a pretty good alternative, but spend a good time with the smudge tool and make sure everything blends fine.

Interesting results. I've not seen CGing done this way before entirely.
I suppose using gradients this way would take about the same time as colouring it freehand with a tablet.

Well am not really one for the gradients, I took a small course on them and it seemed more like a waste of time when there were simpler ways to get the same result.

am in favor of the Air brush!.

o and fyi my folks are buying me a real Airbrush for my Bday on november 27.should be fun ^_^
