mmm most copmuter graphic stuff i've used doesn't use math-o-matics that mucn well unless you count hexodecimal numbers, and being able to count.

but if ur getting into Cd generating stuff, I think it's just basic drafting skills and such ? i don't now.

Graphic Design is a broad category of work that can encompass anything from illustration to icecream signs. Conventionally though, the term is usually associated with the illustrator's school of thought which often digitally involves vector based programs like Illustrator, Freehand, Xarax, and even Flash to a certain degree. There are also Computer Aided Design or CAD for short that is usually utilized when conceptualizing blueprints for an object. That field is a bit more specialized though.

There is indeed math involved, but it's usually pretty underlayed (These days, the computers usually do the vast majority of the number crunching) and you'd either have to be a pretty hardcore math whiz to be able to use algorithms or scripts with any useful application. Usually, when it comes to just graphic design, artistic integrity takes the cake. In CAD thought, it's a bit of a different story, and it takes a bit more logic to realize things like a three wheeled car might be a bad idea (And surprisingly, they do exist in some countries).

Usually, the number crunching is left to scripters, programmers and integraters in the video game industry, but these days, 3D apps also utilize a lot of numerical data, if that is what you are refering too.

In the old days, 3D apps used to be killer on the human calculator bit, using arcane modeling techniques like boolean and splines, but in recent times, programs like Maya and XSI have a very intuitive intergrated interface and it's only getting better... usually, all the numbers on the screen are things like XYZ coordinates, polycount, material values and parameters... actually, there are a lot of things in 3D apps that rely on numbers, but usually it isn't stuff that you have to use your head instead of your instincts to maneuver... that is of course, if you were refering to 3D modeling progs. If not, could you be more specific in what area of video game graphic design you are refering too?
