Anyone know what im talking about. I have the color on my monitor set to default and i'll draw something and post it online. Then i look it up on my friends computer the colors slightly different. I think this is very important issue to us artist because when i choose a color i do it for a reason. I have a reason i colored some thing orange and when i look at from a different computer and its yellow. Ive drawn some pics and posted them on here and i like the way they look on my computer but they might look like crap on yours. Anyone know whats going on besides people having different color settings on their computers?

Well if it's that big of a deal to you, u could put a side note by ur picture with the settings needed to see the picure as intended. really the simplest solutions are the most effective.

nah that is a serious problem, especially if your using flat screen or laptop monitors. I have an 800 page photoshop book somewhere and it has a chapter about that. If I find it Ill scan the pages, but am experiencing a lot of things happening at once in my life so it might not be for a while

Yep that's a common problem, and you can't expect people to change their screen settings to match your picture. Besides, even different monitors with the same settings can have different colours.
A friend of mine even went half berserk when you could actually see the brush strokes on an edited picture on a diff screen ;p There's ways to calibrate your monitor, tho, as well as photoshop itself. I'm not exactly sure how, since I've been too lazy to do it myself

J/j , that is a commom problem, like when I look at my art at my school computers, it looks like I drew it

in 1980... but....... hmmm... What kinda monitor are you looking on it specifically? I might be able to help u there.

Usually, you can kinda' emulate the gamma and color settings of another computer with Photoshop's color profile preferences, but the fact is, not all computers, let alone their monitors have the exact same color settings, so there will always be some variation, there's just no helping it.

You can help prevent drastic calibrated differences however by using Photoshop's embedded color profile mentioned earlier though. Normally, any file created or opened and saved in Photoshop automatically gets an embedded color profile, that when opened on another computer displays the colors in the way you designated, but if it doesn't, you can manually give it one through Image > Mode > Assign Profile (Not to be confused with Convert Profile) and select the one that fits your piece the best... I'm not really experienced enough in this area to give a the standing word on it, so googling up some further research on the matter should prove highly beneficial. Apparently though, the change in colors is why this system was designed in the first place, so it might help you in your problem. In case you were wondering, "Convert Profile" actually changes the color data of the pixels whereas Assign Profile just changes the color settings, although unless you have two computers working for you, they'll both look like they have the same effect. Other words related to color profiles are ICC and ColorSync and you might see them time to time.
