Okay, major prob here... my photoshop won't start!!!
I'll start it up... then, it sits there with the hourglass pointer and freezes. I even re-installed it and everything... still doesn't work! Note: I'm not totally mindless with computers here...

Tried updating it or anything? Don't know if it has anything to do with it. Try scanning for viruses and spyware, maybe something nasty is screwing with Photoshop. Good luck getting it working.

Get this i have a computer and my moms also has one, mine is xp and hers is 98. Hers has a virius on it and i told her instead of paying someone to fix it lets reformat the computer and install win xp on it. Shes like no its my computer. So i think i should do it any way because its a good computer but its not usable at its current state.

Cloud: If all elese fails i would also agree and reformat

I have windows XP!!! and bugsy, WTF??!?! And I think ur right, whoever stated I have a virus, I might have picked up some spyware r sumethin along the way...

Ok Erock/Cloud. Both of u, stop and don't move.

1st. Cloud I had the same problem with my photo shop. You mainly have to much junk on ur computer. All You can really do is . delete some very un need crap . or by some more ram and slap it in your motherboard.

2nd. Erock,....(i just want to slap u agian "jokeing" it) it's nice that u want to help ur old lady but. Most computer folk know xp takes alot up to use and it's full of little bugs, i'd suggest if any thing put in windows 98 2nd edition in. It's better then the original and well it's the best in windows u can get.

Or ya know, you could be cool and run linux on it...

Eeeermm, Tri, you do realize that Windows XP is the most stable release since Windows 3.11, right?
Win 98 2nd Edition is full of bluescreen crap.
If your system isn't fast enough for WinXP, just disable some of the fancy crap in the performance settings in your system config.

Bugsy are u kidding!
Xp is the most confused windows so far. u get blue screen two times as much, but now it comes with fancy beveled edges. really Xp is just a wast. it trys to dummy everything up while makeing everything jumbled.

I for one wish i had 98 2nd ed on my computer but my compaq is quite sure it can't run anything else so eh.

I'm with bugsy on this one cant say i have ever had a blue screen of death in XP Pro since i have had it!

Tri, perhaps its your PC that has the problem with XP? Just a thought!

Actually Windows XP doesn't even have real blue screesn anymore as in Win98. The only time you get a "blue screen" is when there's a hardware error.
Like in my case, the only time I had one, was with wrong drivers for my video card. And a mate of mine has trouble all the time, but he refuses to install Anti-Virus and Firewall software. "Being careful" with mails and sites these days, is the digital version of Coitus Interruptus

So yeah, I think you're having hardware conflicts, like Webb suggested.

edit: btw, i'm not saying WinXP is flawless, every windows is a buggy pile of **** compared to some other operating systems (alas linux is very non-userfriendly, but MacOS is better), I'm just stating WinXP is the most stable release so far.

Hmmm... I'm not as computer savy as I'd like to be, but I do know that Photoshop has a tendency to eat RAM for breakfast, lunch and dinner, especially if you have lots of plugins, so I'd have to basically echoe what the other people said... my first recommendation is to see if you can still run PS in safemode without any plugins, and if that doesn't work, you probably definitely need to clean out your computer and upgrade your RAM... but I have my own share of computer problems that I can't fix, so I'm basically just shooting air pellets at pigeons here.
