Yeah, please excuse the plugging (if this isn't allowed, then mods feel free to delete this post, I must have missed a rule somewhere), but I thought I'd let you know that I've made my own site. It's a bit crappy ATM bcos I haven't had much time to work on it, but it should be improved during the summer.

I'm putting this in the Misc creations forum...

It's not too bad for a first web site. I cringe every time I look at my first! I'm working on a new site design myself, and I noticed we both have the same problem- the top part with the title & graphic takes up nearly half of my screen resolution. On a 800x600 screen size- it will take up most of the screen, and people don't want that. If you could re-arrange that top part, it would be a definite improvment. And as I was saying- I did the same thing for my new site, but I decided to comprimise, so although my new top title takes up around 150 pixels, it's better than the original 300 it was!

Hey thanks for taking a look. Trouble is, Freewebs won't let me shrink it somehow. Still I'll figure it out somehow. Anyway, you got any previews of this new site design u got lined up?

- you can adjust the size of your image using your graphics software and also make sure you specify in the HTML the image width and height- I'm sure you'll be able to work it out.

As for my new site, I havn't uploaded anything yet. I'm still working on the header graphic/animation and will then start work on the navigation. I'm trying to do a lot of stuff I've not tried before, so it's always a long learning process! I'll let you know how I get on

Yeah, I have to agree with bomu about the size of the header. You can place the title "Pandemic Dreams" over the image (as one jpg), while chopping off part of the bottom.
The navigation is straightforward, as it should be. Good work, and good luck for the future!

Bugsy, Bomu - Hey, thanks for the advice about changing the size of the logo, adn thanks for the encouragement as well. The size problem will be temporary, as I plan to revamp this site over summer. Think of this as a WIP so far.

Zankouken - Glad you like the star effect, it was one of the built-in features on the stie template I used.

Updated! http://www.pandemicdreams.tk

Lost the star effect (probably for a while, until I can find a way to do it for my site). Went with the traditional frames thing. Anyway, please feel free to leave any opinions.

Simple enough, easy to use- just what sites should be!
But I do think the navigation is lacking- I'd at least change the font colour from the standard "blue link colour" to something a little lighter, perhaps. Or better yet, change the text links to graphic buttons of some sort?

Hey, thanks for taking a look, and the advice as well. I might go with the graphics button suggestion, seeing as this will hep me brush up on html. If I do this, would you mind me PMing you and asking you for an opinion on it?

-No probs..

Inserting graphics instead is easy enough. Just add something along the lines of:
(a href="http://www.yoursite.com/link1.html)
(img src="http://www.yoursite.com/image/navigate_button1.gif" width="40" height="15")
(/a)

but replacing the () with <> tags

Just make sure the buttons aren't huge in file size, but still look good

Ezekiel 25:17

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
