What are your favorite anime art style/s? Like character design art. Did you like the way this or that character looked and that sort of stuff is what I meant by art styles.

Seen a fair bit of anime and there's a fair few styles I like, but can never remember the character designers names >_<

Generally I like anything clean cut, original, modern, detailed and professional looking. I mean, one of my fav anime series is the Guyver, but the general art style and quality was pretty crap compared to other anime I've seen- however the character designs themselves were very cool.
Same with Lupin - great characters but I really hate the art style!!

I like darker styles, can't really recall names tho, but from the 'normal' styles, I like Rumiko Takahashi (Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2, Inu Yasha), Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Evangelion), and the guy who did Cowboy Bebop (can't recall his name >.<)

I like whoever did the designs for Sorcerer on the Rocks. That's my favorite. I also like the designs in Onegai Sensei a lot.

favorite art styles?? thats hard >__< it depends

somewhere along the lines of traditional anime, slapped in the face with reality! ^.^; that made no sense. . . styles like EVA, Cowboy Bebop. . something a bit adualt but still has room to go chibi! *any of you seen ceres? the realism to chibiness in a scene was so horribly done it was...^.^;; bad*

I also love the 'movement' in Cowboy Bebop, seems so natural, yet sureal

i dont mind traditional anime though: large eyes, pretty girls, lots of sweatdrops, and lines on forheads! Ranma good example

what i dont like >__< westernized anime!! too realistic, expressionless, the people move un-natural. . ive seen a couple of westernized anime

i like the artwork of Akira too! it think its a bit more unique than the usual anime

and while were on the topic..MANGA artwork gives anime artwork a good kick!! >:)

The art from the Rurouni Kenshin OVAs were amazing. A cross between anime and realism.

I like the Evangelion style and the eva units. Shinjis eva looks so evil in the novels.

hmm, favourite anime styles? no idea... think this may have something to do with how frustrated I've been getting with my art recently... the art I most admire is that which looks as realistic as possible... I really like anime artwork, and when someone has a style together and everything looks smooth, professional and easy, that always looks amazing. I mean, like Traum4's art, for example. BUT I don't wanna draw like him!

I just have an image of this shot of Tulip in the first book of Preacher, looking horrified, and you can see every last line on her face-but she doesn't look ugly, she looks anguished... I dunno, that picture just touched me, you know? The emotion in it... I want to recreate that for myself! I want my characters to look real, so you can imagine what they'd be like if they sat down next to you, and I want to show every emotion and detail properly. if you shaved the heads of the Preacher characters, you'd still be able to tell them apart-I want that! If one of my characters wears a pony tail all the time, if he or she takes it down I still want it to be THEM! obviously them, no-one else... grr!

Doing a lot of drawing from photos right now. Everything else just annoys and frustrates me...

I prefer unreality, makes it more plausable when a character does something that defies physics/sanity. I see what you mean about detailing though. All anime characters do kinda look alike.

Neo - yeah, but it's not just anime! Originally I wanted to emulate a more Marvel-style of artwork, but now even that frustrates me with it's simplicity! Lets be honest, there are a great deal of Marvel characters who are identical except for their skin colour or hair colour... all the men are these butch built square-jawed Apollo-esq stereotypes, and all the women are skinny slightly-muscled supermodel types.

Guess I shouldn't have read Preacher... now I want my art to be BETTER than that even - my standards are WAY too high for my skills! When I get my comic and storyline together finally, I want it to be like a graphic novel, detailed, deeply involving and personal, and highly emotive... and I don't think (personally) I could achieve that any other way.

Perhaps it's the fact that I'm so obsessive about film and imagery... and a lot of my writing stems from my script writing and creative writing... I'd like my comic to read and look like a movie, when it's eventually done. Only a REALLY good movie!

Well my all time favourite anime style will have to be 'Cowboy Bebop' Directed by Shinchiro Watanabe. One of the first anime series I've seen that has been consistant with its high quality animation throughout the whole 26 episodes. Its very slick and clean. My fav used to be 'Nadesico' but the animation went downhill by the 15th (or roundabouts) episode. www.geocities.com/silentcreation/fanart.html

I'd like to think he wasn't dead ! Im sure we all would,I have the last episode on tape bt I havent got around to watching it fully, I managed to cath the ending with its moving off into the sky. I examine it and tell you what I think, though I guess it would be a fitting end for a Bounty Hunter. Shinichiro Watanabe also directed Beast City and Escaflowne. I haven't seen either of them, but god bless my anime encyclopedia

With Blood... dunno if "Midnight Panther", "Kite" and "Aika Report" are Animes or moreover Hentai, but this has to do with sex and much violence!!! Realistic, well, in the main structure, the story, but that's it, lol

I wasn't that keen on Blue Sub 6 either but Escaflowne is very cool there is barely a dull moment because the story moves with such pace ( the guymelef's dont hurt much either ).
My favourite style has to be along the lines of Meda Bots or Ultimate Muscle, although neither are my favourite anime they never fail to make me laugh.

edit: Damn this is an old thread, i feel like a part of history
