dont you recon that alot of anime & mangas are relly lame. only really the popular one and a few exeptions are good in my opinion. the ones that i recon are crap are:

-ones that are so violent that the plot is based on it
-really confusing ones (usually because they're from japan) which leave you thinking what the hell?
-you also get ones that are really kiddy and gay (like girly ones) example: sailor moon etc.

Well yeah I have to agree with the ones based on violence, like Violence Jack. What the hell was that about... Just a story so they could put in as much gore and (group) rape as possible (Tho I like gore in more decent violent anime )
I hav to agree with the two others tho. As you said yourself, they're for kids or girls, so why do you watch them? :P

I tend to be a fan of twee, or silly animes. Pizza cats was odd, cutesy and stupid, and thats what I'm attracted to.

Excessive violence is just blown way out of proportion in most of these animes, so much so that they make it ridiculous, like Fist of the North Star when theyve got holes everywhere, with blood spurting out like theres no tomorrow, hell, he'd be dead in under a minute with that much blood loss. Maybe thats intentional to make it larger than life, but it just made it stupid for me. People do not pop like paper bags when hit, something which is rife in far too many animes. Dragonball Z proves u dont need all that gore to make a good fight sequence, though they tend to drag on far far too much, u get my point.

Pokemon would be good without Team Rocket, if it were just the Pokemon leages with no moralistic, save the animals, naturist garbage.

Digimon series 2 and 3 were good. I like how it lost the kiddyness in series 3, was a lot darker.

Maybe I'm just getting old now, but if I want blood n guts, I'll watch a good horror film, not a cartoon. Aliens didnt have excessive gore, but it's a brilliant film, my point ?, gore should always be secondary to plot and action. That goes for films, animes, mangas and everything else.

Sailor Moon was a womans conception originally, so you'd expect it to be gay when viewed from mans point of view.

Were Sailor Starfighter really boys that turned into superhero girls or vice versa ??, they were odd. German tv isn't the easiest to understand so maybe I missed the point. One of them did fancy Usagi, Bunny or whatever the hell her name was, the pony tail slapper hero girlie.

In series 3 of Digimon after Leomon died, what the hell happened to Geri ?, I missed a few of those episodes then suddenly shes the d-reaper. Did she get bodysnatched or something ?.

And onto Gayblade (Beyblade). That SUCKS BIG PLANET SIZED ASS. How the hell do they control those stupid spinning tops, all they do is shout at them like smackheads on some kind of 'excitement' drug. Bit beasts. What a crock of cock. I dont think i've ever been more against an anime than this one. It's so crap, conceptionally, actionately, and Tyson is such a big mouthed prick.

Kai and Rei's designs are cool tho.

Neon Genesis Evangelion was depressing, but good. Wish it had been more fightin and less depressing, meaning of life dialouge. Shinji was such a whining dick, he got on my nerves soooo much. Why did Asuka have to go mad, and Rei have to be such a spacecase ?.

It went too far though. Theres nothing wrong with a lil existentialism now n again, but it got too deep and so depressing.

I watch animes with twisted characters. Like Yami no Matsuei's twisted bad guy Muraki and Wild Adapter's yaoi main characters. I guess that I dig animes with yaoi and yuri characters but that dosen't really mean that Im gay ya'know.

Animes that I really lohate are those girlish ones. They're just total stupidity.

The guys who make them usually want to make them deeper than your usual bog standard cartoon. Nothing wrong with that, I reckon, seeing as you get all these mainstream films trying to be clever as well (The Matrix springs to mind...).

Well The Matrix was cool Hmm soon Revolutions *_*

I like it when the theme is done right. Some try and just downright fail.

yeah matrix is a well good film, 2nd one isnt as good though.
i guess no manga can take on the sort of meaning of life question because its too big they should stick too defeat bad guy scemes or collect stuff and explore the world. i suppose the director gives it this story so it seems more adult. but i think they should also have a good story otherwise your average berk will get confused . they should leave the meaning of life theme for rock bands to ue in their lyrics!

Saw Matrix Revolutions on Friday 7th- Wicked movie!

Anyway, back to the topic at hand- manga is split up into so many genres that it's not suprising that you'd find a lot it unappealling. I dont like typically girly live action movies, so I'm not in to romance manga and anime either.. But I've watched 100s of different anime movies/series and personally I'd say the majority of anime and manga has something to offer.
