Topic moved to "Anime, Manga and Comic Books"

I can't admit to being a big fan these days. Never been to an anime convention, I've not bought any anime since the late 90s, I don't draw in a hardcore anime style and I've not bought manga since Viz stopped selling the translated Dragon Ball and DragonBall Z comics...

But I've seen well over 100 anime movies/series' and know the genre pretty well to be able to "fit in" with most general anime conversations.

These days I'd probably be considered more a "casual anime fan" as I don't watch/ read Naruto, eat pocky, listed to J-rock or draw chibi-ish anime characters with angel wings!

Well I can't say am really huge with it, I've watched it my whole life. When I was little I never knew it was called anime so I don't know if that changes anything but neh.

I don't go to cons(mainly since all the ones near my little town are them stupid cross play or wat ever, to tell u the truth I find them funny when u see 500 pound full grown men dressed up like inu-yasha, but then there's the few that think spandex makes up frot being fat and well it scares me so no I don't go to cons.

I would like to go to one and meet fred from the megatokyo comics but thats about it.(of if Bomu hosted in one I would go to say hi and see who i've been talking to the past year and half)

Lol that would be interesting, eh Tri? Well, as for myself, I tend to prefer drawing anime to watching it - I don't really know the first thing about what anime is out, which is good etc. I leave that all up to my housemate. I guess I'm a bit of a casual anime fan myself. And as for cosplayers... if you want to be truly disturbed, go to Google image search, and type in 'man fay' (as in Fay Valentine, of Cowboy Bebop fame). I'll never understand why some guys get a kick out of dressing like female anime characters.

Lol ya some of the new anime is kinda junk, one good manga I found was "Chronicles of the Cursed Sword". I don't really read manga that much, but this one reall caught my eye, I would really recomend this one.

back to the topic,I just could never pull my self to con, 4 1 I know there would be about 50 million kids playing yu-ji-oh! and I for one would go crazy and burn every single card that some one has in a gay deck older, well not magic the gathering since I respect them(that game is WOW! so many rules and junk). well in short I hate little kids, always have always will, well not my own,if I have my own.

Another thing that would drive me crazy is the lonner manga/anime boths that no one goese to that would try and coxe u over to them, I'd end up being aressted for beating the crap outa of them all. ^_^ some things just can't be helped, U ever go to the carnivals and those carnies are trying to get u to play their gay games and u ahve to pretty much give them the finger to leave u alone.. well thats wat it's like at cons. how I know this, well I have many friends, few went to a one close to my little town so I got the low down ^_^ I gtg pepsi calls reeses pieaces!

I've actually heard a lot of good things about cons. Seems everyone that goes says they had a great time and there's a lot more fun to be had than you'd think..

I could deal with the fat, hairy 40 year old male otakus dressed up as Sailor Moon. In fact it'd be funny, but cons just don't appeal to me. I'd say most people that visit cons are hardcore fans or go there to meet up with friends they've made from a previous con. Am I wrong?

From what I've gathered,

Once there, you walk around several stalls selling merchandise to series' you've never heard of, you then sit in a crampt room- unknowingly next to the fat Sailormoon cosplayer bloke who smells of B.O and watch "soki-soki-furi-kuri-kooki-booki-supermix" (some cute, sereal, Japanese comedy anime) episodes 53-69, then sit at the bar buying rip-off priced drinks to help forget about the fact you've spent £40 for the ticket and have to go though the same routine tomorrow (if it's a full weekender)

(Note to con goes: Please prove my theories wrong about typical anime cons. I'd like to visit a con some time to see what it's really like.)

Maybe I shall host the "organic Metal convention 2005"? Tho It'd be pretty crap as I'd probably end up hosting it in my bedroom to save costs!

Ok guys from what I understand we are all going to the official "Organic Metal Convention 2005” to have a totally awesome keger in Bomu’s bedroom then we are going to fly first class to Las Vegas and I think somebody’s gonna step on some gum because were going to be stuck there 4 ever and we are forced to watch "soki-soki-furi-kuri-kooki-booki-supermix" over and over and over and one of use has to get married to the 400 lb guy dressed up as Sailor Moon.

Yea, count me in!

Ezekiel 25:17

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
