Yeah, he's been a pretty big name in the comic biz for years. Reaslistic artwork always seems to go down a treat.

i know right i read a book about him and hes been doing this his whole life. i really wish i could bring characters to life like he does because i can picture them in my head but drawing them is another story.

Perhaps it's just my experience but I'm finding realistic work takes longer for it to pay off. I suppose with manga if you get your proportions wrong you can sometimes still get away with it, but realistic stuff doesn't get looked at untill you start getting it a lot more spot on.

I have been stuck for a long time between continuing along a manga style route or pushing more towards traditional western fantasy for groovy things like Neverwinter Nights portraits.

Generally people don't seem to like the two together though...oooh it's a hard life

Ive kind of been doing that, but have been trying to learn stylised comic book inking at the same time, so now my cging and my inking are totally different styles lol.

you guys ever find, that after like a o say 5 months of hard effortinto getting realistic or complicated drawings down, simple cartoons are really easy and take like no effort and look good.? kinda seems to work 4 me that way.

I can't say that I have personally, I am finding manga more hard to colour though, on more realistic figures it's easier to see where the depth is supposed to go.

After months of working on an illustration for my story I did a picture of Naruto (in as close to the style as I could do) thinking it was going to be easy points for my portfolio and it got hardly any feedback at all!

Good that it works for you though! Maybe I just need to practice more.
