I'm planning on grabbing myself a ps2 soon, (once summer school's over). What are some games you guys recommend? So far I have Final Fantasy X, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Gran Turismo 3 on the "wish-list". If ya guys can add anymore that'd be sweet! Thanks!

GTA3!!!! (Grand Theft Auto 3)

absolutely brilliant game, you really should get this.

also i've heard the following are quite good:

Ico
Silent Hill 2

Be warned FFX will steal your life away.

my baby cousin broke mine and now it wont even turn on.
what sucks is i got mine when it was 300 bucks
luckily the price is down now.

anyway,
twisted metal black's a pretty cool game
red factions pretty cool
so is deus ex
dynasty warriors 3 rules

you know you should probably look for reviews on these games because your taste in games might be different then ours.

persoanlly i think grand turismo 3 is a waste of money, unless u like SUPER realistic racing games (as in its slow, u crash often, u actually have to brake for any turns, etc, i didnt like it)

other then that:
GTA3 (sweet game)
devil may cry
coolboarders 2001
gun valkrye
tony hawks pro skater 3

Crap you think GT3 is realistic? Is the damage and such the same as GT2 basically? I think it is. The games more realistic than most racing games, but there are a handfull of PC games that really make it seem easy actually.

Im thinking about buying a PS2 as well, They actually have better lenses they can read hurtin' PS1 games.

Too bad about your PS2 Del. I had the same problem with my PS1, you let people use it then it gets thrashed on (the games at least). Then nobody wants to take credit for the damage.

Come to think of it thats all the PS2 will be. People will bug me to play it all the time or borrow it, and I'll have to say yes or they will bug me all day.

Come to think of it a PS2 can wait, im not buying one until its like 200 canadian. They also modify the things as they are built, so the older more expensive models aren't as good as the newer cheaper ones.

I've played through it 9 times and dont tire of it and DMC2 is gonna fuckin rock sorry bout that but it looks amazin and good news Dante doesn't have a dumbass mouth hes now a quiet thoughtful dark person who speaks occassionally.
I think if Beat em ups are what you want I'd reccommend VF4 it'll take a good while to train all your fighters on the Ai and you can give them whacked names mine are so far

SSX tricky is great evry1 who's played it who i've talked to loves it or enjoy it my sisters who aren't keen on gaming love it too
I like ZOE and no.2 looks even better Mech robot air fighting? Yup ZOE is defo cool but quite short BTW
Get MGS2 it is awesome but Warning the new character may not be to your liking as for me I totally love him he rocks I dunno why ppl hate him.
anywayz I blab too much but DMC god get DMC its on platinum soon too!!! its been a whil since i've played a game like that or become as obsessed with a game like that.

Okey Dokey, PS2 games....*clears throat* Out of 24 hours I spend around 8 on an average per day with My PS2 so here's my top ten list.

1- Final Fantasy X (must have)
2- Metal gear Solid 2 (must have)
4- Devil May Cry (must have)
5- Ace Combat 4 (must have)
6- Way of the Samurai
7- Stuntman
8- GTA 3
9- Medal of Honor Frontline
10- Drakan- The Ancient's Gates.

Hope you find this helpful. However you should go to websites with game reviews so you can find something to your liking. Some good sites would be ign.com or ebgames.com. Oh by the way sentient, wasn't Gun Valkyrie on the X Box. Umm..I could be wrong but that's what I thought.

Umm.. Intergalactic_Del perhaps you could try taking it to the place you bought it from, they normally have a warranty or time period where they will fix it for free or replace it if a parts broken or something...I got mine from best buy and they had a warranty with it so maybe you have something similar...I got my PS2 while it was 300$ so i know how you feel....lol...if only I was more patient

FFXI, not really. Although it's gonna be released for PC as well this time, the prices are sick (especially if you still have to buy the internet package for your PS2). I don't know if the monthly fee is worth it; I'm not even into online games :/
But it's not like Square has much choice; if they didn't raise their prices, the servers would be overcrowded...

FFXI was recently released in Japan, and let me tell you it was a complete flop, it was initially expected to sell 300,000 copies in the 1st week, and ended up only selling 70,000. Now this was not because of lack of interest, but for the average gamers lack of internet adaptor, and cash for the monthly fee, and to top it all off there are numerous glitches in the servers and they keep crashing. They really dont need this after the 100 million$ loss from the Movie (Fianl Fantasy: The Spirits Within)and their horribly unsuccsesful anime series, I hate to say it but if square keeps this up they may well go the way of the dinosaurs

Yeah, I bought my ps2 when it was 300. *sigh*

Anyway, I have no games for it yet, as I have been patiently waiting for the prices on the games to drop. (has a stash of PS games X) )

What a shame is it that FFX1 is internet based. I would love to play it... but I have no money for the fees. So, it is to be released for the PC?

I KNOW Nintendo has something to do with Square at this point, They got back together (yes? right?) !!.... I still don't see why they don't just release it for the Cube, or something. I suppose that they are just ahead of their time.

I have a feeling that Nintendo is very very upset with this money loss...

well the Square/Nintendo relationship has been strained due to this catastrophe, as one of my vid game mags put it they have started talking smack, not a good start to a new relationship if you ask me.

It seems like many popular franchises aren't doing very well. I heard Mario Sunshine didn't sell that much either in Japan.

Personally, I wouldn't buy FF11, too much of a hassle. I like console games because they were simple, you sit down, pop a game in, and play. But with FF11, you have to spend so much more money.

My top picks are ZOE2 and Midnight Club II (both are coming out soon) and along with those I'd say Shadow Hearts for sure and Kingdom Hearts. I think Shadow Hearts has a better story than FFX does although the game didn't sell nearly as well.

My Ps2 is in for repair now, so I can't wait for it to get out... The games I must get sooner or later are FFXI, Drag-on Dragoon, and Metal Gear solid 2 Substance.

I got Wild Arms 3 recently and im really enjoying that. I highly recommend it. That and FF9, Devil May Cry (got that too, again), cos it's worth rebuying
