That game was fun because more than one person could play. But you could practically stop the game and just keep casting spells which really took away from the whole experience (aka the gameplay was flawed abit).

Im pretty sure I heard about some sort of sequal to this game, but cannot find it. It is obviously named different enough that a search engine won't pick it up. ANd all the old Secret of Mana sites were made before this game.

well the sequelk is seiken denseteu 3 and it rocks more than the 1st one.
i played it and it really is a good game.

I did some digging (looked at ebay, if it exsists it is most likely for sale there).

There is a game called "Legend of Mana" and the game art looks very simular to Secret of Mana. I looked it up on Squares site, though Squaresoft doesn't have any screen shots or anything ex...

Has anyone played this game? Would like to hear some opinions and see if it is what im looking for!

And what do you mean "seiken denseteu 3" Tuigi? Is that another game altogether? Or the Japanese version? Im confused!

seiken densetsu 3 is the snes sequel to secret of mana it never came out in the us but i played it and it rocks more than any other scret of mana

the ps1 secret of mana game is called LEGEND OF MANA an keep away from that game at any cost the system is bad they re is no real stiry line and the battle system is even worst and only for 2 players.

the things that make LEGEND OF MANA BAD:
-after each fight your hp goes back to maximum

-you cannot skip a fight or run away

-there is no story line you only use objects found in previous missions to make other mission and so on

-even if you have like 20 magic atack and 20 techs, you can only use 4 of em cause magic is casted whit l1 l2 r1 r2

final judgement keep away from it

Hmmm, How about Lunar RPG's? and is Final Fantasy anthology any good?

I notice those are a couple of the more 'sought after' titles on Ebay.

I'm actually looking for somthing I could play with my cousin, thats why I was looking for 'mana.

Where could I find this Japanese import?

OK, IMO Legend of Mana was a complete and total disaster, Square tried to go the road of non-linear ( no preset path) storylines, but this just made the game seem really random and boring all in all, secret of mana is WAAAAAAAAYY WAAAAY WAY better.
as for anothologies is brings the classic FFIII back in it's true glory, but for some reason (might just be my copy) the controls seem to respond just a tad slower then the original Super Nintendo version
oh yea, despite the dated grafix lunar is a top notch RPG, with what has to be the best villain of all time *Ghaleon* (see Sig for Ghaleon specific quote)

Would either of you say If I got a good price on Legend of Mana say pick it up just for somthing to play? Is the gameplay that bad or is it still worth abit of fun, taking the story line completely out (my cousin wouldn't care less).
An RPG with real time action and one thats two players just doesn't come to mind, Secret of Mana is the only one I can think of

Is there other RPG's that are like this? I'de probably even buy a PS2 if it.

well if you can get for 20,00 and you really want a secert of mana game ga ahead but i warn you you will not play very much whit it.as i said before you hp comes back completely after each fight...where s the challenge you just go around bashing stuff.
the only cool part in the game is in the land where you have to learn how to talk cause they use a different language and you have to figure out what they are saying...anyway
if you can get it for 20.00$ or less take it if not leave it on the shelves.

Thanks Tuigi! Hopefully they make a GOOD version for the PS2 cause that would rock. Or at least a game similar.

I like the Idea of the R1, R2, L1, L2, cause I guess that would allow for real time casting of spells or whatever. In the original you were taken to a menu, where you could then select the spell and cast it immidiantly. This basically would pause the game while you trashed the enemies (only having to break to re-fill your magic points). That kinda ruined the gameplay, there was really no need for physical attacks once you got to a certain point.

Seiken Densetsu 3 (SoM 2) is an awesome game. Too bad it wasn't released in North America. However if you can find the ROM online and a reliable emulator. There's a translation patch right here:

Thank you very much Ayzie! I should probably wait and see if I could get a mod chip before I try somthing like that? It does look like a very cool game! I enjoyed those games way more back when the graphics weren't so realistic. It left way more to the imagination.

You don't need a mod chip for SD3, it was created for the SNES, and there are certain programs online that allow you to play SNES games on your computer

hm well it is partial illegal (like mp3) the emulator is not.
But the roms must be given away to public by the owner of it. Which nintendo didnt.
Some companys actuly do it, for c64 as an example.
