After sifting through my game cupboard today i once again installed X-COM UFO ENEMY UNKNOWN and before i knew it five hours had flown by. That and TERROR FROM THE DEEP are games ive returned to countless times over more modern, flashy games and will probably still play years from now. I enjoyed it so much i spent the rest of the day redesigning the X-COM arsenal for use in a fanzine comic im gonna do.

Why?. Its the joy of creating an original team, world every time. Few games allow u to do this nowadays. They want u to use their characters, follow a linear plot. With XCOM its your own way, your own little bunch of reject squaddies to command. Ok so the AIs hardly tactical but its easy 2 forgive it this.

Its my no1 fave game of all time. Whats yours?, and why?.

Also, if youre an xcom fan u can post redesigned equipment for use in the comic here. Im having particular difficulty with the interceptor as ive never drawn planes before.

Oooooh I like Metal Gear Solid too, but my absolute favourite has to be Final Fantasy 7. I got my PS shortly after my birthday and I had some cash to spare, so I thought I'd treat myself to FF7 (bought it mostly, because of the flashy adverts, hype and a whole load of good reviews.)

I didnt know what to expert, heck it was my first RPG! (back then I didnt know what an RPG was) Fantastic story, great graphics (well back then it was, lol) I was hooked, and for some reason, it took me months to finish it, so I got good value for money ^__^

FF7 is up there on my list as with Secret of Mana XB I capped over 100hours on that snes game.

But those are the games I used to play alot, now its Counter Strike :3 even after getting some of the latest games, fps, rpgs yes including Hentai games! (of which i seem to have made a rept for myself in) I always get bored at one point but never has CS bored me. Started more than ayear ago and still going XB

- Metal Gear Solid...solid snake, is there a greater video game character? i don't think so...and if anybody says something like mario then i will slap you silly

- Tekken Series ...wow, i was a diehard mortal kombat fan until i actually played this game...very impressive stuff...Lei Wulong being my favourite character

- Tony Hawk Series ...innovative and very addictive...i must have played them for countless hours sussing out lines and stuff

and FFX is slowly creeping up...i haven't finished it yet but its pretty amazing.

No idea as I said at ammos forum.
Urm
Devil May Cry-Give me DMC2 now. Dantes new voice ownz he can run up walls in stylish Matrix style!!! Nah but DMC is purely awesome. I was hooked for months and can still go get hooked again if I get bored of a game. Not to mention Dante is HOT and the action is just WHOA!

Tekken series-I love Tekken. I’ll never forget the day I first played Tekken 2 since then I’ve loved it. 3 Really did it and since then I’ve been a big Hwoarang/long haired guy fan. T4 is just awesome!!!!

Metal Gear Solid-I actually bothered to complete a non beat em up. Nah but MGS is just brilliant not boring not solid to complete has a class story and awesome characters!!!! Will ppl stop hatin Raiden I think hes cool.

FF10- Not finished yet T4 interrupted! Beautiful graphics story characters etc.
I have to say FF11 looks crap and will cost a fortune to keep. Its too boring c’mon where’s all the mad clothing and haircuts?! And err colour?

I wanna play Bionic Commando again, I've been having a fix for that game, that game was for NES and was awsome, very unique gameplay! I think thats what it was called it's with the guy that swings around with a metal arm. You can't jump you can only swing.

FF2 was my fav. I think as we get older and our imaginations weaken we can't enjoy those games as much. Back then FF3's graphics were out of this world! I used to use cuss words instead of real character names and thought I was pretty clever. I'm not a big fan of the new FF games, they are impressive, just the gameplay isn't deep enough. I havent played FF10 yet so can't comment.

probably for replay value Grand Prix Legends (racing game). It's pretty cool, really hard, so you never really get bored.

uh the first two x-com games where pretty cool I remember the huge adrenalin rush I had everytime I pushed the finish round button fearing that another of my high trained soldiers died without a fight .

for alltime favourites I would say bruce lee for c64 'couse it was the first graphical game I played on my own comp.

The puzzle games Money Idol Exchanger and Puzzle Fighter have also a High replay value among me and my friends.

But like Shirai most time I waste with is Halflife mods (in my case it is FireArms a.t.m.).
The cool thing about them is that they get constantly tweaked and added features.
So they never get bored.

This is JUST a rumour that I heard on a FF site, that Square are thinking of NOT releasing FF11 outside of Japan (for many reasons e.g not enough reliable servers to cope, and the PS2 hard-drives are VERY hard to find)

Hmm, I dunno! There's so many good games and you only realise just how cool they were when you start playing them again.

Secret of Mana was ACE, so was Final Fantasy 7, Metal Gear Solid, Shenmue and loads of others that I shouldn't have forgotten. And then there's cool "pick up and play" type games like Tekken and Ridge Racer, which deserve a mention.

Im not just saying those 'cos you guys mentioned them either

Chrono Trigger OWNS, I mean the art from akira toriyama (this was before I even knew what db-dbz was folks) and the tech system were soooooo advanced that Ive shelled out over 500.00+ on gettn the original copy of it sealed in box, and another copy opened but still had the box. a close second would be Final fantasy III (FFVI for all you anthologies players) that game had the stuff, lots of characters (2 hiddens) evil villains (c'mon ya gotta love Kefkas laugh) snd a really deep and involved story.

my bro got an X box for his B-Day and i just finished playing Halo.

Oh

My

God

i'll wait for awhile to truly let it sink in but i haven't had a gaming experience like this since playing MGS (not MGS2) or FF7.

Apart from the afore mentioned games i can't play games for hours on end but with Halo i could barely stop playing and now i've started again on a harder setting. The story for Halo isn't as good or deep as FF7 or MGS but the gameplay is so damn good.

anyone else played it?
