Fashion Girl

Took days to colour - At the time it was probably the longest period I'd spent colouring. I wanted to go for a realistic CG style similar to Shinkiro- the Capcom artist that did all the characters designs for the King of Fighters games. He draws semi-realistic anime artwork (more realistic than this line art) and renders it to look more 'real' than your typical manga style CG by using photo reference material and such. I used to think some of his stuff was photographed until I saw a pic of him working from reference in Gamest Mook (a monthly Japanese game guide or artwork magazine-book).

The rendering looks good, but I dunno about combining that realistic style with this particular line art. I still like my comics and anime, so if I do more realistic looking anime style art in the future I'll need to make sure I'm happy with the line work before rushing into the colouring.

Looks very real to me. I'm thirteen and I just want to say a big thanks to you and your "How to Draw Manga" Book, it was excellent and it really helped me to proportion right! So anyway, thanks alot, you're really talented. You were a great inspiration to me and you still are!

p.s : LOVE Bengosha in the book!

I agree with some of the comments above. The clothes do look really real, and she does kinda look like Angelina with a hair cut.

It's like a virtual reality until you get to the face - it still has that manga style that doesn't match the realism element of the rest of it.

I must agree with the comments above, the detail you put into her clothing makes it looks touchable, really beautiful~ I have seen both of your books and enjoyed them, I think you ought to make a CG techniques book, i know how sparse time can be though ^^;;; but I would definately purchase it if you came out with one.

But would Calvin Klein accept them? Ha ha ha. They probably wouldn't mind. I like the drawing in greyscale - but I'm a sucker for color, so I like staring at the colored version longer. Her left shoulder looks a little funny though, I decline to say.

Gawd, I want to put that outfit on right now - very, VERY convincing! Although I prefer your less real/more manga approach - like how you did it before. Your drawings of Nikki for example.
